i was just wondering whether the hd videos i downloaded from microsofts site are being displayed at 1080p.is my computer capable of displaying 1080p.
i have a core2duo e6300,1gb ddr2 ram,7600gt graphics card,samsung 740n tft monitor.is my monitor and my system capable of displaying 1080p??

Your 740n has a native resolution of 1280x1024. 1080p video has a resolution of 1920x1080. So while your PC might play the video file, your monitor cannot display the vid file in its native res.

monitors dont need decoders because the decoding and the processing is done in the CPU/GPU....in effect monitors are dumb terminals.

In case of TVs,the decoding is done by the decoder specially dedicated for that purpose.
