Hope I am doing it wrong as I am worried now with temps running so high even with the fix being applied.

Here's a screenshot of my GPU-Z result:

For some reason I feel I haven't installed the drivers properly.I had downloaded 2 set of the Catalyst 8.7 from their website. One was named 8-7_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_65993.exe (34.7MB) & the second one was 8-7_xp32_dd_65993.exe (14.9MB).I installed the 14.9MB one first & then added the 34.7MB based CCC one.Did I do it the wrong way? If yes then what do I do?

How do I recheck if I did the fan fix properly? :S

EDIT: FIXED IT.I can't believe I was editing the wrong line all along.I was setting the fanrpmspeed to 50.DAM! Sorry for the trouble guys.I have set it to 75% now & yes the noise is very much audible.Anyway good it did the job. Thanks for all your help.

^^Somehow the everest ultimate isn't showing the GPU temps at all, had to download the latest version of GPU-Z to do the work.

Yeah kinda figured that out later on.But I guess it's all good now. With the temps stabilised all I have to do now is more benchmarking.:hap2:

you can use gpu-z, ati tool, or rivatuner for temp monitoring

i use hwmonitor for my proccy and riva for the gpu

I used to think Riva Tuner was for Nvidia cards only.:P

Anyway ATI's CC gets the job done pretty nicely.I'll try HWMonitor though.Seems to be very popular.:)

read the tweak on some forum n its realy helpful for keeping the card cool.

hd4850(sapphire..amd referrence card) used to idle at 70-75c

now its idling at 32c @50%fan speed, 35c @42%

at load, its 53c @50% n 59c @42%

had to use fan @65% to bring it to 33c idling n 56c load when room temp used to be ~32c

room temp ~28c.

cant notice fan noise at 42% (~3750rpm)

at 50%(~4775rpm)..its barely noticable over el cheapo case fan n amd stock cooler.

65%(~6375rpm) realy sounds like a hair drier

^^ that are nice temps. wish i got similar. my 4850 idles at ~45 C and loads at ~58C at 65% fan speed. Well it is noisy, but most of the time i use head phone so it doesnt matter and anyways cm690 with 6 X 120 mm fans is noisy.

what abt temps on ur cpu, board n hdd?

try using a fan to blow on the rear of the card.

creating negavite air pressure in cabinet may do the trick.
