None of you guys have RAID 5 Setups?...considering you spend a bomb on everything else!!!
Eazy said:I have read that RAID 1 slows down the working process a wee bit - RIGHT ? I am sure this slowing down may not even be noticeable.
techie_007 said:Not always easy to keep multiple drives (250X4).
Well, simplest is to backup everything. For 1 Tb of data, keep 2 Tbs of space on 2 X 1Tb drives.

Any luck with the recovery?
thetoxicmind said:Well that was merely a suggestion, the point i was trying to make was to have atleast two(or multiple) HDs...
Be it 250GB X 4 , 500GB X2 or 1TB X 2 !
So you won't lose all ur data in one go if anything should happen !

techie_007 said:Actually I meant something different, that you should keep your DATA COPIED, not split across volumes. So the same data on 2 drives, ONLY way to save it in case of a crash.
In case data is split across multiple volumes, you still loose half of it
But if you keep a copy, you need to be really unlucky to have an internal and an external fail at the same time
@dafreaking: Actually, RAID in such cases can do more harm than good. Think over it. Your data may span over multiple volumes, but all those volumes get changed at the same time. SO any accidental deletion/virus attack leaves all your m,ultiple copies i nthe same state and ur left without data.
Better to have on-demand sync of data. That way you are protected against Virus attacks/accidents while deleting stuff.
Care to tell me the price of this dock and i guess this is HDD external casing u guys are talking about..I am looking for a decent casing for some time now.Udit said:yes lesson learned

Eazy said:Ahhhh !!! YOU must be following the advise of my OLD Chartered Accounted.... when I asked him not to go on the NET without an antivirus installed, he seriously asked me if he could use FLIT to protect his computer from the viruses. (Should I have told him to place a Goodnight bottle inside his computer case ??) hyeah:

Since after the XP worm thingy before SP1, I have never encountered a virus attack online. On the other hand, almost each and every pen drive brought over from work or friends have been infected since past 2 years and more.
