Hi,

I have a few 1 TB HDDs attached to my mobos and i need to attach them via USB..

What could be the easiest solution for around 1500 -2000rs ??

Are there any docks where i can attach multiple hdds ?? or a tray or something where i can attach 3-4 HDDS ??

Would a separate casing for each HDD be more costly ??

Will be using it as a regular HDD, will be on 24/7 down/up loading.. so plzz suggest according to that..

Budget - 1500-2000 rs. extendable if i can attach multiple HDDs to 1 dock..

HDD docks are the cheapest options but they are not suitable for 24x7 downloading 'coz they heat up a lot. There are multiple HDD bays option in terms of a NAS but it will be very expensive.. If you can then use 1-2 HDD's connected inside the computer for downloading & use a dock for backp & data dumps. There are few models which suppose max 2x HDD's at a time but they are not easily available... You will have to import it through shopabroad or shopandship...

The ones available on eBay Global EasyBuy are slightly more expensive..

Also, you would do well to remember that USB read/write speeds are much lower than SATA. I'm not sure about the "HDD docks heating up a lot" bit mentioned by Hailstone above. I have a HDD dock, and even on using it continuously for over an hour, it barely warms up. Most of the drive is open to the outside when you use it on a dock, so theoretically at least, it shouldn't heat up much. I might be wrong though, 'coz I haven't used a dock 24x7. IMO, they aren't made for 24x7 usage.
 
^I've come across some instances from the forum wherein the dock has indeed overheated and gave up eventually. The dock in question is the Vantec Nexstar.
 
^^ Okay.. That is very much possible. I was thinking about the drive heating up, rather than the dock.
 
Got the Thermaltake Blacx Esata for $33 from amazon viz friend whos coming from states.. will get it in a few days :D :D :D
