Hi All.

We are being offered HDFC CC without any accounts or FD. They call it their Lifetime free ones with no charges and all.

Does anyone have any experiences or insights about this?

Let me know?

Yikes.

I did a google. Lots of harassment calls for HDFC customers. :S.

I have 2 HDFC Platinum cards (earlier they were gold) for last few years. Both are free for life. I don't have any bank account with them also. :)

I did not face any problems with them.

But I can't see my statement or transactions on their website. I can see just the total spending on my cards (Total limit - remaining credit limit).

There is no catch here... I have a titanium card...
No one ever trouble me uptil now yeah but they keep callin and offering me some kind of loan and just say no... If that is the harrasment u are talkin about then they do harras otherwise nothin at all

Get a credit card if you are not prone to overspending. The HDFC card is anyway valid for only 3 years after which they will offer to renew to a better option and more credit limit.

If you pay the bills on time consistently, you will have a good credit history which is useful when you apply for any kind loan with any bank/organization. This credit history is centralised and all your cards/loans history is available to the participating banks/organisations.
Welcome to CIBIL

most of the responses from google search will always be negative. This is because those who are not facing any problems have no reason to post about it online. You will get the same results if you search about banks, appliances,ISPs etc. FYI I have an HDFC CC and have never faced any problems whatsoever.

Go for it. If you search online, you won't find a single card which does not have any complaints. People with issues make it a point to create a fuss, people who are happy rarely bother spreading the word unless asked. Final word, if you are prone to over spending beyond your means, do not go for any credit card. If you are one of those who are decent when it comes to managing how you spend your money, a credit card is a fantastic asset to have.

I never do that. :S. Always spend within the means.

I am intd in HDFC becoz of ebay EMI offer. I hold a axis one, if i need to do a emi, I need to call em up and do the thing.

Anyways. If i find the HDFC satisfactory will only use that. Only one plastic rule.

I have been a very long time consumer of HDFC CC. Initially I was on Gold Card, there after regular spending and payment elevated me to Platinum Plus Card, which recently got elevated to Visa Signature Card with Smart Chip security feature.

Till date I dont have any controversies with them regarding billing cycle, payments, rewards or anything in that manner.

I would definitely recommend HDFC CC.

They would have selected you through your earlier credit history and rating, they keep looking for customers out of which you got shortlisted. No need to reject them if you are sure of your credit worthiness and your repayment schedule.

+1

I'm using SBI and ICICI credit cards for the last 6 years or more. I always pay the amount due in full atleast 3-4 days before the payment due date. In these years I never faced any problem from any one of them. Touchwood!

One more user of HDFC CC, forgot to pay the bill one month, called them up and told them to cancel the late fee etc, they did that asap ( mostly because I never missed a payment in the last 3 years )

^ That really depends on your payment record. Happened to me a couple of times, and didn't have any issues getting it reversed.

Any suggestions for a Credit Card for a 1st timer? I have an account with ICICI and was looking at their CCs and it seems they offers CC against FD which I suppose isnt good.

Any suggestions?

^ There are no good and bad credit cards as such, it is just how well you use it that determines whether a card is good or bad. The idea of the ICICI FD card is to ensure you don't overshoot your limitations. In short, say you have an FD for 50K, your card will have a credit limit of 50K, since that is the amount that can be adjusted against your FD in the event you fail to make any payment at all. It is a sort of safe guard both for the customer as well as for the bank.

My usage wont be much just occasional spending that's it and though debit card would be fine for this but there have been times when certain sites wont accept a Debit card/net banking which is why I'm thinking of having a CC as a standby :)
