I think Compaq had an offer going on which was around 25k last month, i don't know if its still available or not. Back then i read the specs and it was really good, just check it out if that offer is still going on or not. They were giving out some printer or scanner also free with it.

Ecstasy: I only want a net book.
Which shops should i in to when i visit nehru place next week? Will it be open on republic day?

There are a bunch of shops on the ground floor...(of meghdoot building, etc..)

Saw the EEEPC, Aspire One and Lenovo S10 there..(The Lenovo shops name is Unique Infoways.

I just tried out LG X110, its battery life sucks but it looks beautiful and has a the same chassis as MSI Wind. The one I checked was a 10-incher with 160GB HD. matte-finish screen and nice keyboard all that I can say though the glossy lit finish is so fingerprint friendly.

Bad battery life is a Deal-breaker. No way I am buying a netbook without a good battery life.
Here I will write according to the preference:
1. Should be less than 1.5kg.
2. Have atleast 6 cell battery/ 4 hour battery life.
3. Atom or better processor.
4. WiFi
Rest I will write when I remember.

Will it be out in this week? I don't think so but still. Is it possible to upgrade the battery in aspire one? What do you think about eeepc 1000h. It's available at a fair price at ******.

I just went to Amarbir's Lynx Computers and he showed me the EEE PC 1000H. Although it's the heaviest net books in the market, it seemed as heavy as some of the books I often have to carry. So it's something I think I can carry around with me. It has 160 GB of hard disk instead of the usual 80 GB. Rest is the same- Intel Atom 270, 1 Gig RAM, etc.

Additionally, I never use the Right 'Shift' Key, so that wasn't a problem for me either. So, what do you say guys, should I go ahead and get it? It's for 24,400( Including Taxes and Bill). He reduced the price quite a bit from what he has quoting earlier, so it is now in my budget.

see if he can arrange a 80Gb version. Cheaper with a better battery life. The 160Gb version has a smaller battery.

@Techie007: From what I am reading, it seems to have a 8 cell battery instead of 6. I remember it was bulging out slightly from the main chasis like this one here.. I will certainly check carefully before buying.

Edit: On closer look, I realised this comes with a 4 cell battery which is just 5600mAh as compared to 6600mAh on other versions. Thanks. You saved me a lot of money.

Yupeee! I finally bought it. an Asus EEE PC 1000H( with 80 GB Hard disk, Intel Atom processor, 1 Gig RAM, Win XP) for 21, 300 inclusive of taxes. Also got a free 2 GB Kingston Pendrive with it. I am loving it :-)

Now I am going to install EEEbuntu on it.

Exactly my point :)

@Leo_club: The 160Gb has a SMALLER 4 cell 5600mAh battery. (this is the protruding one :P)

THe 80Gb has a bigger 6 cell 6600mAh battery (DOES NOT protrude)

The 4 cell battery is actually bigger since its apparently a li-ion polymer battery, a different battery design process :)

The EEE PC I have got is the 6 cell one. There is no 8 cell EEE. It has 80 GB hard drive. I think I got it for a good price. What do you think? Congratulate me guys :ohyeah:
Currently typing from EEEBuntu on my brand new EEE PC 1000H.
I am quit comfortable with the keyboard and the screen. I think the screen size is sufficient for my needs. The horizontal resolution is a big plus point. And I also noticed that my netbook is not as sluggish as these netbooks are made out to be. Infact it's quite fast. I want to thank everyone who helped me make up my mind. A special thanks to Techie who prevented me from making a big mistake by promptly replying to my post. Thanks friends.
