Is that possible? on a 17 incher? :S

CRT maybe ? :p

Playing at 1920x1200 u dont really need the HD 5870.... The 5850 handles everything at tht resolution... even crysis with everything maxxed out... U can always replace the cpu+mobo combo with a 1090t+ suitable mobo... if ud like but u dont really need a 6 core for gaming... or if u really want the 5870 go for a 965 BE proccy and get the 5870 :D

Its a 17" LCD , but as i said in the last , if you guys recommend a new monitor i am ready for it . :)

also guys i need a AMD config not INTEL .

@varunversion1 i wont be upgrading the system till the next 2 years . so i want a future-proof system . thats why i am going for HD5970 . plus i will be using the system for animation and a phenom X6 will help a lot for that .

@Davidboon, you can't get 1920X1200 resolution on 17" monitor. This is Full HD resolution and to achieve this resolution you have to buy a 22" or 24" LCD monitor.

@harpreet89 my 17" monitors native resolution is 1440 X 900 , but i am thinking of getting a new monitor .
@foruamit2004 so which monitor would you advise ?
@cOOL_chap this time i am going fo AMD so no X58's :)

I've never before assembled an animation rig, but I'll give it a try. I've been a regular reader of TE and multiple other tech. sites so I understand the requirements and demands.

CPU : X6 - 1090T BE Rs.14200

MOBO : Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H Rs.9800 (this is the only VFM Mobo. choice others are 890Gx having 4-5PCI-ex slots!!!) OR Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 Motherboard Rs.11200

Ram : Since AMD doesnt support tri-channel kits you should go for 2X [Corsair XMS3 2x2GB 240-Pin DDR3 1333 Kit]=8gb of Memory Rs.2X5200 = Rs.10400

HDD : 1TB WD Black Rs.4000

Graphics Card : ASUS/Sapphire HD5870 1GB GDDR5 Rs.22000 [wait for 2-3 months and buy graphics card after price drops]

SMPS : Corsair VX650 Rs.6400

CABINET : LanCool DragonLord PC-K56W Rs.4500

Keyboard + Mouse : Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 + Logitech MX 518 Rs.1500+1100 = Rs.2600

Speakers : Altec Lansing 2.1 VS4121 Rs.2800

DvDRW : LG/Samsung SATA DvDRW Rs.950

Total Amount = Rs.77650

AFAIK you need a really-really good monitor for Animation, including the monitor I'll change the above configuration as follows:

LCD Monitor : Dell Ultrasharp 2311H(22'' S-PVA panel, S-IPS panel is even better but I have no idea about it's availability) Rs.13400

CPU : X6 1055T Rs.9800

GRAPHICS CARD : Sapphire HD5850 1GB GDDR5 Rs.15500

SMPS : Corsair VX550 Rs.4700

Rest all is the same

Total Amount = Rs.78500

He doesn't really need a six core as none of the major animation tools and softwares haven't reached a very great point in multithreading I would suggest you ( Davidboon ) can go with a Phenom II 965 B.E. it will be more than enough and get the Dell Ultrasharp monitor at the least rest all is fine with the configuration go with whichever GFX card you fancy as it doesn't really matter between the HD 5870 and the 5850 ( max difference 10 ~ 15 % )

Also for RAM I will recommend the G Skill RIPJAWS 1300 MHz 9-9-9-24 ( 4 GB Kit ) over the XMS 3

Hope this helps :)

@aman.pitbull Thanks for all the suggestion ,I already have a 9800GT so i think it will be worth to wait for 2-3 months for the 5870 price to fall . perhaps i may get an 5970. who knows ? . Also i am getting tempted by the MSI 890FXA-GD70 and it costs 10k . so what do you think ?
@ALPHA17 I wont be upgrading the mobo and proccy for the next 2-3 years so i want to go with Phenom X6 to be futureproof .

Your choice bru I have no argument to hold I am just saying it from my experience I too am currently studying animation so I tried to pitch in where I thought I could help :)

Batch renders suck up 100% processing power utilizing all available cores. So the more, the merrier :)

dude seriously, i really dont want to sound rude or anything. but please do some research before saying such a thing. i dont want even want to try n explain or justify anything to what u are saying.

i feel the rig aman has mentioned is spot on. but i would suggest you to go for the x6 1055t & 5850. let me know what kind of animation work you need it for so i can tell you if 4gb would be enough for your usage or no. 2ndly how many hdds are you going to use in the rig, how many roms.

my suggestion for the cpu / mobo combo is x1055t + gigabyte 890gx ud3h with noctua u12pse (am currently using these in many of the rigs & its a great combo)

ram gskill or corsair 1333, if price difference is not much then go for 1600. do not go for ripjaws if u plan to install a tower heatsink as you will not be able to use all 4 ram slots.

RAM I have just mentioned the kit he can buy as much as he wants but I have no idea if the new 880 and 890 chipsets have corrected the flaw of the 790 series where if you put a third party cooler the Slot #0 used to get blocked

+1

Batch renders on my rig take up 100% proc power on all cores and an additional 150-400 MB Ram usage, depending on how heavy the scene file is (total ram usage at this point ~1.6 GB) and Composite renders on Fusion (32-bit version) consume 3.2 gb ram at abt 30-50% processing power. So if you're into the latter, I'd recommend adding another stick too :)

^ Yeah, its just that I was using the 32-bit version of Fusion as I dont have its 64-bit so mine gets stuck at 3.2 gb. Else it will consume as much as you will throw at it :)

O.T : Which softwares do you use?

Guys i have not joined my college , i am going to join my college next month . so ill be buying this rig between 25-30 of this month . so im pretty noob at whats software i am going to deal over there , but those of you guys are in this field know more than me and another thing i am going to stick with 4GB ram , because AMD processor doesn't support triple channel ram :( .
and as for the graphics card i will wait till November 1st week for my purchase , till then i will be using my 9800GT .
