hi guys,

my 2 days old 550BE + Biostar TA790GX combo is not booting.

how can i know if it is the fault of processor or the motherboard?

the motherboard is not posting and none of the leds( power, hdd etc ) are on.

the hard disk is not spinnging also. The FAN of the processor is running. there is no display on the monitor. I have tried with the IGP and my 4850.

When i plug in my HD4850, its fan is not running.

i didnt over clock, but i unlocked the other cores using ACC=off option in bios. it was running fine till today morning untill it suddenly went off and nothing worked after that.

please help guys. both mobo and processor are still in warranty. but before claiming the warrenty, i need to know which one is faulty.

Unplug all devices and just connect power supply and mother board. Check to see its running or not. If works then one by one connect devices.

where did u buy it from ? usually dealers have over-the-desk replacement for things going bad in 2-3 days.....call the shopkeeper or go there with the setup.

take the mobo to dealer saying its not booting , he will try with different chip , if it works then ur 550 gone , if it doesnt work then take new board from him .

well.. i brought the motherboard online (from techshop.in)..

so that option is not available.

i have a friend who is having an AM2 processor, which i can fit into my mobo and check.

but he is afraid if the motherboard is faulty, his processor will also get fried.

is that a possibility?

Which PSU do you have... Check with another PSU.... Sometimes 1-2 pins on the PSU also do not have power in a bad PSU.....

Seems to be a POST issue.. the BIOS chip might be the fault... the proc fans would run but nothing will happen or get displayed... I had this issue once in my gigabyte... it wont post...

You need a POST diagnostics kit to check it... Best is to take it to an authorized dealer and having it checked for any issues...

Good luck...

:cool2:

There is 72 hours doa clause available on every computer dealer. If it is just 2 days i.e 48 hours get it replaced as soon as possible.

ABACUS Peripherals are the Biostar Distributor in India and they do the RMA service of the same.

I had a similar problem where only the proccy fan and dvd drive light comes on, nothing else. Turned out to be a faulty psu (corsair vx 450), because it worked fine with my generic psu. Got it rma'ed and now working fine.

check with a different psu and see if it works

@OP: its tedious but a better option

1) Get someone elses Psu and check. It could be a faulty Psu.

2) Connect each component separately, boot and check.

3) Motherboards come with a DOA clause, which can be claimed if you act now.

4) best of luck with abacus in cause you have to replace :P
