Hello Friends,

After my Sony DVD-RW fails to read/write CD, I install old Aopen CD Drive for CDs. While keep the same faulty DVD-RW to Read/Write DVDs as it wont give any problem to read/write DVDs. :S

From that day, while accessing "My Computer" both CD & DVD drive starts reading CD/DVD one after another (useless CD/DVD I always keep in Drive to avoid dust problems) & than "My Computer" fails to respond frequently.

Before DVD RW fail to read/write CD, I use to keep CD/DVD in that drive as usual, but never face any delay to open/Access "My Computer".

I have another OLD system where I put CD in CD-Writer but there is No Delay or Not Responding error while accessing "My Computer".

Can any one help me to resolve the issue.

Thanks.

Your cd Might be scratched or your Drive is not able to read the disc's Keep unscratched and clean disc's in the drives and the problem will go away...

i think keeping useless cd dvd in drive must have made dma mode on dvd drive go to lowest by now in your comp. hence the frequent hangings.

check in device manager the udma mode of your dvd drive.

there is no need to keep an old or damaged cd/dvd n the drive to prevent dust. the front cover is designed to keep maximum dust out.

Keep the drive that WORKS and unplug the one that doesn't.

You have almost a 2000 post count here and what you asking is basic.

Some XP service settings requires (Start) to solve the problem. Problem solved now.

Thanks for suggestions. :)

naming that service may help a few :)

2 Services:

Removable Storage - Started- Manual
Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service- Started- Automatic

Above services were disabled with my system (may be by mistake).

After Starting it, problem with "My Computer" i.e. slow start-up & hang system (rarely)/ Not Responding "My Computer" (frequently) solved.

HTH :)
