Hey Guys,

I stay in Australia is nearing its end (finally); I am planning on taking a 1 day hault in Malaysia while returning.

I did some research and found out that the newly launched Nikon D7000 has quite a deal in Malaysia and the price is almost or even cheaper than US.

Link: Nikon (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd

Now, I wanted to know the places where I can buy a DSLR and lens in Malaysia from?

Also, need to know if there are any popular shops there giving international warranty?

I am also looking to buy some junk stuff like HDD, LCD's, Bags and some electronic stuff

I need help from our TE gurus to know all the cool shopping places in Malaysia:)

Advance thanks for the help guys:clap:

If you mean KL by Malaysia, head straight to Bukit Bintang. It is full of malls. Will take you quite some time to move out from here if you are a compulsive shopper :P Check out Low Yat Plaza among others. During my recent visit, I should say the prices of HDD wasn't exciting - I felt Indian prices are lower in comparison. I didn't bargain anywhere (a basic necessity in Bukit Bintang).

Depending on where you stay, you can take the monorail to Bukit Bintang from KL Sentral

nikon does not give international warranty on dslr bodies. you will get international warranty on the lens though!

My parents were in Malaysia recently and discovered that there isn't much of a price difference between Malaysia and India. You might wanna have someone check the prices for you in India and then take a decision. Online prices are quite different than the prices on the street especially in India where one can bargain even with the authorized dealer.

Agree. Noticed the same thing recently. Prices in KL didn't seem to be competitive. Not sure about Bukit Bintang since I didn't get time to go there.

Suria is an upmarket mall and so getting deals there is out of the question. I recently checked the prices there, and they were all crazy

Thanks guys

For the D7000 the price difference is Huge!!! and its quite cheap in malaysia

The price of the D7000 in US now is 1700$ with a 18-105 lens and the same is priced at 2200$ in AUS

Now this same thing comes for 1600$ in Malaysia making it the cheapest price in the whole world as of now:)

You can't even compare the above with India:)

BTW: Guys, any good places to visit in Malaysia...I am thinking of roaming around rather than shopping:)

The one place you definitely MUST visit is Petronas, if you haven't already done. Then, buy chocolates. And if you still have time, head to the bird park. Entry is steep though (by Malaysian standards) @ 45 RM

^ Not too sure about flee markets, but I think Petaling Street (China Town) comes close. Alternatively, there is Bukit Bintang where you have like all types of malls - from the plush to bargain havens

Thanks Mate...

I will plan my day so that I can visit some malls and also one of the places (bird park or _Petronas) :)
