CPU/Mobo HELP : Suggest 13K CPU+mobo

hi guys, I need to buy a system on Monday from Lammy.

Whole buying will be as

2 X 1 GB Transcend DDR2 800 =2.1K

Seagate 500 GB SATA2 =4K

I have cabinet, SMPS, Monitor, and I/O devices.

Please suggest me a CPU and Motherboard combo for 13k.

The most important thing is the onboard gfx, coz for atleast 6 months I wont be buying a GFX card and I'm a casual gamer.

By going through PC buying guide and TheITWares - Buy Computer Hardware , PC Components , Laptop Computers - One Stop for all Gizmos!!, I have got more confused .

Intel config

CPU :

Intel E8200 2.66 GHz 6MB L2 cache 1333FSB costing 7.8K approx

Mobo:

EVGA 112-CK-NF77-A1 nVIDIA 7150/630i 1333FSB costing 4.5K

Abit I-N73HD 7100/630I 1333FSB costing 4.1k

Asus P5N-MX 7050/630i 1333FSB costing 3.3K

AMD config

CPU:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ 3.2GHz 2MB L2 cache costing 7.7k

Mobo:

MSI K9NGM4-L V2 nVIDIA7050/610i costing 3K

K9NGM3-FIH nVIDIA7050 nForce630a (MCP68PV)Chipset costing 4K

Asus M2N-VM DVI Nvidia7050PV/nForce630a(MCP68PVNT) costing 3K

That's all ;)

The one combo I like is Intel E8200 and Evga 112-CK-NF77-A1 mobo. But is it available? Does anyone know a shop at Lammy who has this combo?

My previous two systems were AMD so I have one question about RAM

Most Intel Mobos have only two RAM slots.

if I buy Intel config, is there anything like dual channel memory or should I buy a single 2GB RAM module so that I'll still have one slot remaining for upgradation.

I know a lot of questions, but please help.

What's the main purpose of this rig?

E7200 (new) + Abit IP-35E (new) + 2x1GB DDR2 800 + some used 6200TC/6600/7300GS etc from TE market. :)

Very fast for now and over time you will learn or be helped into OCing, with a good cooler of course.
Most E7200 can do 3.6G easy with good mobo, good psu and good cooler and 3G shouldn't be an issue and still pwn all the combos you listed out here. :P

What psu- try and get a Corsair VX450- only 3250/- now at Lammy. :D

Saw some decent deals in the Market section- a 6200TC and a 8400GS and others. :)

You can get some 6600GT/7600GS with some warranty left for 1600-1700 bucks and should make the overall combo worthwhile.
(Used low-end/budget cards bought at a decent rate can be sold for minimal loss when you upgrade to a better card or can be kept for backup.)

first off all, intel also has dual channel memory....and most intel boards have 4 slots of ram

instead of the e8200, you can go for the e7200 which is around 5.7k

it is 2.53ghz....overclocks well, and performance difference is negligible

for the mobo, go for the abit ip-35e (around 5-5.3k)

and for now, get some cheap pci-E graphics card(6200 or 7300...anything will do) and then replace with a decent gpu later while keeping the same mobo/cpu

EDIT:: do post all the components that you have so that we could suggest what to do
 
most of the ram sold today is dual channel memory,and unless you are going for a 64bit OS you would not need more than 2GB of ram.
 
^^Pretty good; the Asus P5Qs can do at least 550+ FSB out of the box; :D

No clue abt the MSI ones though; :ashamed:

Cool- so RAM decides whether you have dual channel or not?? :S
And no use of more than 2GB unless 64-bit OS??
What if i have 3GB RAM?
Say i have 2x1GB DDR2 800 and one pair of 2x512MB DDR2 800?
Will i need 64-bit OS and will i get dual channel? :huh:

And will i see any improvemnt in RAM intensive stuff? :(

1. PC'll be used for movies, image and sound editing, .net programming and games.
2. i don't mind playing games on lowest setting but with good fps.
3. i'm not into overclocking.
4. e8200 has 6MB L2 CACHE and 1333fsb
while e7200 has 4mb and 1066fsb. looks considerable gain on paper. but how much performance difference does this cause in reality? ne comparison on any website?
i want to buy a cpu which would be fast enough even 1.5 years later.
5. i'm planning of buying a gfx card in 2009 when dx10 would be well set in games and 'i'll have the money.'
6. is that evga mobo available at lammy?
7. tell if i should in for 2x1 gb ram modules or single 2gb one? which will perform better?

rest of the config will be as 17'' CRT MONITOR, colorsIT 450w psu, 500 gb sata2 hdd, 160gb ide hdd, ide dvd rw, 2 gb ram, two 80 mm fans.

1,2,3,4---> the performance difference is negligible(5% approx) to say the least

and if you decide to overclock, then the choice of processor will make no difference because all of them overclock to atleast 3.8ghz

5----> no matter when you buy a graphics card, it will get old really fast :)

6---> dont know

7----> get 2 ram sticks of the same size and speed.... some companies like corsair, gskill, etc. sell dual channel kits which are 2sticks that go together :)

and do consider getting a new powersupply....probably a corsair vx450 for 3.3k

what he means that u get dual channel kits these days that many people buy :)
and usually people jump from 2gb to 4gb...not 3...so they would require 64bit OS :)
he knows his stuff...he just cant get his point across :P

since some guys think SLI certified memory means that it is recommended to be used with SLI setups only and if it isn't written dual channel on the RAM box they would think its single channel by default.Since i do not know the street prices of cpu components i just wanted to answer this part of his query:

Its not RAM i.e dual channel,its the mobo that makes RAM work in dual channel mode.:)
 
^^it is alright until it blows up and destroy the rest of the comp with it :)

why spend so much money on the rest of the cpu and then get the cheapest power supply available

my psu went bad and took with it 1 stick of ram, the motherboard, and the graphics card
 
Guys, i've a good news. a friend returned me some money. i discussed with my dad, so new config is decided as

intel e8200
abit IP35-e mobo
XFX 8600 GT 512 MB DDR2 PCIE
COOLER MASTER Extreme Power 600w psu

ok now just tell me a shop at lammy where i can find these. esp the cooler master psu?

Pl do us [and the rest of the setup] a favour;

Get the Corsair VX450 instead of that CM600W; Reiterating for the nth time: Its wayyy better than the CM600W in terms of quality and efficiency; :)

And it sells a lot cheaper nopw compared to the 3.6k tag it'd few months [even weeks back];

Check McCann, PRIME; :)
 
+1 for Corsair VX450 & 8600GT 256MB DDR3....

Only one word can define Corsair VX450... BRILLIANT.... Google it if you don't believe it.... :)
 
I was thinking of the CM600W myself until I read the previous posts.
Now am a bit confused.

Could someone clarify in what way the CM600W is inferior to the VX450W
