HD-500BT is with a 1283 realtek chip. will see what can be done on that. and it supports the 3.5 inch hdd as well:D

I am intrested to buy this since my WD media player deal with KMD dint go thru.

Anuj can u get an expert to compare all the players in the market with this one,it would be easy for us to decide.

^ Lol , expert. what i can do is prepare a excel sheet and compare it side by side by the competition. without saying much , they are OEM to some good and big brands already :P

IMO for "this" price this is a good deal.

the next best thing actually is the Playon as @dheeraj have said. and the playon mini does loses some features so not including it.

abt the proccy.Comparision between Realtek 1283 and 1073 - MPC Club Community Board

this says the proccy doesnt support 5.1 ??.. any idea what this is??...

^ RTD1073+ this is the chip set in the HD 300A it is a newer version and supports 5.1 ch decode. :P

There are Realtek 1073DA and 1073DD variations, with the DA version being an early release that is unable to downmix DTS. The DA variation is common among the cheaper players.

In early 2010 Realtek started shipping enhanced + versions of it's chips. The 1073DD+ and 1283+ can both passthrough DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD.

The 1073 is the same as the 1283 with some DTV functions stripped out, they are otherwise exactly the same chip providing the same performance in a Media Player
