OT man u r confusin us. i agree with zhopudey, u cant save electricity n play games at the same time.

and as for the rig, you dont need a network card. you already would be getting dual lan.
and as for the custom cooler, y do you want it(unless its for personal satisfaction)? you wont be overclocking...
MOBO - GIGABYTE EX58-UD5 - RS. 16000

THE THINGS YOU WANT WILL COST A LOT MORE THAN YOUR BUDGET
suggest you subtract the following,

1 X WD VELOCIRAPTOR, 1 X WD BLACK, SOUNDCARD, CPU COOLER, UPS(UNLESS YOU NEED IT), MOUSEPAD

even after this you are over budget by 20k.

So here is my suggestion for 100,000/- (keeping the rest for a DX11 Graphic card) Prices are approx.

Intel Core i7 920 -> 14k

DFI LP-UT X58-T3EH8 -> 15k (If you can't find one, check the dealers paradise here)

Cosair TR3X6G1600C8D (3x2GB, Dominator series) -> 13k

Western Digital 300GB Velociraptor 10,000rpm (for boot) -> 13k

Western Digital 1TB green edition(for data) -> 5k

Corsair H50 Watercooler / Cooler Master V8 -> 5k

Corsair HX620 -> 8k

NZXT Tempest -> 6k

Samsung Lavender P2350 -> 13k

Sound card + Speaker system -> 10k

I know that your bro's b'day is in August. Otherwise, you would have got a higher i9 based system after 3-4 months at the same price.

As for you energy saving, DX11 cards will consist of 40nm technology and DDR5 memory thus will require less power. :)

He can use SSD Hard Disk may be of 80 GB as primary drive

and 1 TB WD green as secondary... its energy efficient and future proof..

some thing of this sorts could be tried with 127 K rig..

Intel Core i7 940 -> 28k

DFI LP-UT X58-T3EH8 -> 15k (If you can't find one, check the dealers paradise here)

Cosair TR3X6G1600C8D (3x2GB, Dominator series) -> 13k

Corsair H50 Watercooler -> 5k

Corsair HX750 -> 10k (If its not available, get HX620, enough to handle with a high GPU)

NZXT Tempest -> 6k

Samsung Lavender P2350 -> 13k

Sound card + Speaker system -> 10k

:(

The i7-940 has been Discontinued. you will find a 950 instead here along with the LP UT X58 board --> [GO] i7 Deals - Corsair DDR3 and X58 - TechEnclave

The H50 Cooler is still not available in India. You can go for a Thor's Hammer or a Prolimatech Megaleham (My own customers suggested these to get for them :P)

The rest seems nice. @elnino - PM me if you want a quote for a system as suggested.

pheonix is right. 940 is discontinued.

there is no point in buyin dominators. get ocz for kmd unless one wants to spend 7k more
sabby said:

besides not being available in india, its crap. and OT will not be overclocking
sabby said:
NZXT Tempest -> 6k
an i7 deserves a full tower
sabby said:

is that screen available in india???
sabby said:

sound cards cost atleast 5k. just 5k for speakers seems less...

This thread has very hiigh hits! Good time pass. Never seen so many comments in such short time. People are all willing to suggest, but Elnino should be prompt in answering queries so that we can suggest something suitable.
true :)
matoind said:
I had asked him about what size display does he require?
he already said he wants a 24" with 2ms response time
matoind said:
Eg : If the screen size is not very large, then a very high end graphics card is not required. And definitely not 295 SLI.
besides things already not meeting his budget, it totally doesnt make sense

@elnino:

Dont kill me for this, but here it goes:

You have been saving for 7 years, right? That's one awesome thing you've done..

i wont advice spending such a HUGE amount of it on something which depreciates proportionally to the cost price. In short, a CPU+GPU: The more you spend today the faster it will depreciate!!!

Anyways, if you still choose to spend alot.........

Which Graphics card has your brother been using before this?

:If its anything less than nvidia 9800GT/ Ati HD4850, then choose one of the following options:

1. If he REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY LOVES GAMING + MOVIES + MUSIC:

Get him this rig:

Phenom X4 720BE (2.8Ghz, 6MB) - Very high end performance for the tasks mentioned

A motherboard with great features - Improves user friendliness - those sata n usb ports will never be less again :)

Ati Radeon HD4890 - Lightning Fast!

OCZ DDR3 6GB Kit - Very hi-end and Future friendly

Corsair TX750 - Raw Powa!!! Future friendly, Best efficiency.

Dell S2409W - HUGE Screen for gaming and entertainment bliss - No compromise in Entertainment value :)

Asus Xonar DX sound card - Crystal clear sound, mind boggling effects when sources through the right speakers

Altec Lansing MX5021 - THX awesomeness.. All Muscle, no Fat.

Cooler Master HAF!!! - Killer looks and humongous space will make your bro look like this :O

7k+5k+14k+7k+7k+13k+5k+9k+5k=70k approx.

Thats More than enough.

Games=Mainly GPU dependent (Specially for such high res. HD gaming)

Movies=Monitor + Sound Card + Speakers

Music=Sound card + Speakers

2. Your brother is a hardware/overclocking/technical enthusiast:

Replace the 720BE and mobo with a Core i7 combo which IMO is a wastage of moolah and electricity cause just the i7 consumes approx 70W more power, heats Much more and still costs Rs. 20,000 More :| (what a waste)

Choice is Yours :hap2:

@ elnino

hey buddy,

i was in the same boat as you 2 years ago when i was building my first rig. i also had quite a high budget around 1 lakh as my father nedn't buy me a bike so he offered that kinda budget for my pc. and i made a mistake by using it all up at that time. within two years that is now my pc became totally out of contention as one of the best pcs around.

at that time i used to read digit and thought that i was making a wise decision however i have found that value for money products are the best bet as the upgrading bug will get scratching again in a few months , more so as you will be reading other peoples tales of their latest acquisitions here.

also remember there is nothing as a future proof pc . please invest wisely as that money was surely hard earned unless you won a lottery or something , just kidding. you spent 7 years saving that money, at least you can ensure that it will keep you happy for another 3 years at least and that is only possible if you buy vfm products and keep upgrading them as and when required. also you can redeem that money by selling those products here. you can see you will find more buyers for the mainstream products rather than for extreme products. for example a gtx 275 will find more takes in the market rather than a gtx 295.

also the time of your purchase is ill timed as newer technology is just on the doorstep and it would be wise to delay your purchase by two to three months to get even better value for money.

also upgradability wise amd is the best option for you as their highest processor offering is not ludicrously priced above 50k but at a sane 15k which you can use for say 3 months sell it for around 12k put in another 3k and get the best at that time if a better processor arrives , and similarly for other products.

don't get offended as people will always have their opinions and that is what these forums are for.

best of luck for your purchase

@mjumrani

replaced the 940 with 920 as i forgot about the hdd.

Well, regarding your comments, I know all the facts. But OP wanted to get the best configuration for 127k. :D

Even for gaming, the onboard sound will do enough. And he can buy a good BOSE music system with the saved from cooler+ram+sound card+AL5021.

HX620 will be better choice. There is no way that X3 720(r8,its not x4 until unlocked, but you have to say X4 550 then :D) rig with a 40nm GPU will consume power more than 350W. Samsung Lavender P2350 is available (may be not at his town) and consumes less power yet delivering premium quality picture. :)

@OP-its really insane to buy rig for 127k...spending atmost 50k is justified...also you can get a good config for 50to 60k..

Save the rest of the money...:)

Ok TE , I brought my budget down to 75k according to the suggestion , so fast suggest i dnt care it is i7 , Quad or Duo fasten up guys

@phoenix your suggested Rig i would like to make sm changes and make it a perfect w/ a full tower case

Back to the topic, @elnino :- Decide whether to spend all of your money to invest in a computer or wait 2-3 months to get the best for your money or a high end gaming machine and yet 50k saved. :)

Exactly what I wanted to say. :)

@ELNINO,

My suggestion for 75k

Phenom II X3 720BE -> 7.5k

Biostar TA790GX AM3 -> 6k

Corsair xms3 DDR3 2x2GB -> 6k

Western Digital 1TB Black -> 6.5k

NZXT ZERO2/ZERO -> 6.5k

Samsung Lavender P2350 -> 13k

Altec Lansing MX5021 -> 6.5k

ASUS XONAR DX -> 5k

Corsair HX 520 -> 6k ( VX550 for 5.5k , if HX520 isn't available )

LG / LiteON DVDRAM -> 1k

Logitech/Microsoft Keyboard+Mouse wireless -> 2k onwards (choose yourself from the shop, large range)

APC 800VA -> 5k

I think nothing left except the GPU. :sigh:

So that is 70k or more (if you consider higher priced keyboard+mouse)

The on board graphics is descent and your brother should be able to manage 2 months with that. Then present him a DX11 card. :)
