Storage Solutions Hitachi 500GB @Rs1700 is this a good drive?

Just called redington india and they gave me number of this dealer in chennai...he is quoting Rs 1700 for this model : H3D5001672S...

I have 3 WD blue 500Gb drive(one failed taking all the data with it)

I also have 1 500Gb seagate drive that is failing fast

with that exp. i am very afraid to go for either of these brands(seagate and WD)

Are HITACHI drives reliable and how is the ASS ?the dealer said the drive has 3 yr warranty .

Please reply guys i have to start in one hour (the store is 180kms from my house )

Hitachi HDD are good but I have read that their benches are a bit lower than WD and seagate

mine is different model & comes with 5 year warranty

bought it for 2205/- with tax in july

@impulse1992 Just phone redington or cyberstar and they will transfer you to their hitachi department...thats what i just did

@Techno guy i really dont care about the speed anymore...i just want reliability.

I went through the most horrible of rma processes with the two hitachi drives that I've owned. One was a 160gb 2.5" IDE hitachi drive which i used as a portable drive--i had to send it to prime abgb - they sent it straight away to hitachi's service center--it took 2 months for hitachi to rma it for me. the second drive was a 250gb sata desktop drive which also took 45 days to rma.

^^lol thats bad man...the dealer assured me that he would back me in case the service center delays things like that.He also said replacements are given in 3-4 days max.

Using one 500GB for last two years after my first Seagate 500GB failed - peace of mind.

Actually WD and Seagate were much better and relatively cheaper so people stopped buying samsung and hitachi

but sadly the now a days many of wd and seagate dries are failing and also there are complaints of WD ASS
