I used this in Europe with TomTom. In India, though I recommend MapMyIndia. I use Sygic MapMyIndia on iPhone and it is amazing. Just brilliant. It knows everything, even more than Google.
 
@astrono_me This is just a GPS Receiver. Nothing less, nothing more. Its has one and only function, to calculate current position.

Personally how I used this was I got cheap an iPaq/WinMo phones(old touchscreen windows phones) for like 500 Bux and installed a GPS software on that. The iPaq connected to this via BT and ran TomTom, which showed me the maps.

You can connect any BT device to this and install GPS software which will allow you to perform Logging on the device.
