After the recent incident of molestation of NE girl, that was the first thing to come to my mind. That we cry foul when racially discriminated against abroad, but would not think twice before using words like Gujju, Punju, Madrasi etc.
I think it would be very offensive to call someone from the NE a chinki. Because in effect you're saying they're not Indian.
Secondly, that territory IS a part of India, are you saying it belongs to the chinese. How long till we start referring to Kashmiri's as comig from the other country

Those might still not attract immediate raising of the eyebrow because for the avg Indian that type of name calling is not racism and gets inherently rooted, but words like Chinki and calling them absurdly by referring to momos etc seems hideous.
On intl forums, thats valid grounds for a ban!
Calling them momo's means they're Tibetan i think, not too bad if that's where the person really is from. Chinese would not be too impressed tho

And a simple request, try to abandon words like Chinki, Surd, Negro etc.
The word negro is quite common, even heard some relatives, older ones use it and have to constantly remind them to get with the times. Here's a
history of how it evolved by Gil Scott-Heron
In 1600 I was a darkie
Until 1865, a slave
In 1900 I was a nigger
Or at least, that was my name
In 1960 I was a negro
And then brother Malcom came along
And then some nigger shot Malcom down
But the bitter truth lives on
Well now I am a black man
And though I still go second class
Where as once I wanted the white man's love
Now he can kiss my ass
Malcolm-X died in '62, Gil, wrote those lyrics in the early 70s, so negro is pretty outdated.
