Sleep is one of the richest topics in science today: why we need it, why it can be hard to get, and how that affects everything from our athletic performance to our income.

In a recent research on comparing death rates among more than 1 million American adults some revealing factors about sleeping patterns came out.

Studies show that people who sleep between 6.5 hours and 7.5 hours a night, as they report, live the longest.

And people who sleep 8 hours or more, or less than 6.5 hours, they don’t live quite as long. There is just as much risk associated with sleeping too long as with sleeping too short.

The big surprise is that long sleep seems to start at 8 hours. Sleeping 8.5 hours might really be a little worse than sleeping five!

I stay awake till i have to hang onto something till i get to my bed.
And then i sleep till i get a hangover.

Go to sleep nukey. :P

damn, smoking would have taken away less life

Not preaching... but an FYI.... I quit smoking 10.5 months ago after a 20+ year habit of 1 to 1.5 packs a day. The Dr told me that new research says that your lungs can bounce back to pretty much normal health in 10 years. I now run around 4 miles 3 times a week and do muay thai kickboxing and boxing 3 times a week. If I can do it .. anyone can... (not saying that it is easy ... cause it's not) You will only be able to quit when you really really want to, and no one else will be able to say or do anything to make you before you are ready. :D

that's good to hear, i quit 3 weeks ago but i was always worried that whatever damage i had done to it was permanent. as for the bit about no one else being able to make you quit...im not so sure. i quit because my roomate promised to make me one meal a day. i guess my priorities are a bit different :P

But it feels good to not have all your clothes and room smelling of smoke all the time. And to actually have some cash in my pocket ($5 a pack isnt a joke at a pack a day). Thank God for nicotine gum.

I am a sleep addict.. usually sleep from 1:00 -1:30 am - 8:00 am but may some times extend to 10:00am... :(

Also sleep in noon for ~ 2-3 hrs & sometimes if I wake up early I go to sleep @10:30 - 11:00 am for ~ 1-2 hrs.... :ashamed: :ashamed:

Can''t seem to get to a proper sleep cycle.... Addicted... :P

Since I got my Night Unlimited scheme back again the sleep schedule is random.I usually go to sleep by 1:30AM & wake up at 7:30AM.Could be pushed to 9:30AM tops.If I don't get proper sleep then 2 hours sleep in the afternoon is a must.:)

Usually sleep between 4 AM and 9 AM..... Guess I need to find to way to keep myself away from the PC.......

My sleep time - variable

Monday to Friday: 1 am - 8 am / 2am - 9am

Saturday, Sunday: If I go on treks / excursions variable depending on schedule.
