I have tried posting the same question in another thread about which home theater to buy, Unfortunately did not get any replies, Moderators, please move this thread if it does not belong here.. I do not have a very good KNow-How about the above mentioned query and would be great if someone could help me out.

Like I told you in the other thread, you'll need rca to mini cables. They look like this -
mini3rca.jpg

The white and red go into your DVD player, and you plug your AL 251 wire into this cable. You'll need 3 of these.

Thank you zhopudey, There is something else which is confusing... could you please tell me why would i require three of these??

Thank you Kumar, Sorry to be a pain.. There are 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer and every component has individual outputs with coloured individual cables.

Currently all the cables are connected to the subwoofer, So that means I have 5 cables,

If I use three 'RCA' to 'MINI' cables, i will still have two speakers which are not connected, Really I am confued to the core..

hey knight...just explain thos connections u got once again...i think i almost understand ur prob but still give a clear idea of what u have and thenmaybe somebody can tell u what u need.
u said all cables are connected to the sub....i.e the sub is acting as the amp...so..the sub must have the main input..mostly RCA or Digital/optical.

Knight, you're one confused dood :D

Ok, lets see. Your speakers connect to the sub thru individual cables. Leave these as they are. Now, theres a thicker cable coming out from the sub ( it is not detachable), which ends in three mini connectors ( the kind found at the end of headphones/ earphones). They are Black, Yellow and Green. These three, you're supposed to plug into three of the cables I've shown above.

Okay zhopudey, I get it, I have been eating everyones brains in my office as to how to get this one done.. No one could give me an answer, I am defenitley going to browse more often thru the forum.. surely this one rocks.. and yes I was a very confused soul..Cleared now... Thanks for your reply smith

Thanks a lot people

Also, make sure that the switch on the back of the sub, which says 2-4-6 spks, is set to 6.

Njoy!

Okay I hate to do this to all of you all AGAIN... I got the connectors as mentioned by zhopudey, Sounds much better now(Thank you)

However when I try changing the setup to 5.1, then centre and rear speakers does not work...

Would anyone like to comment????(Please)

Assuming you've connected everything correctly, and have set the switch on the sub to 6-speakers. I think there might be some sort of setup menu in your DVD player. Use that to test if all speakers are connected properly.

Now, all you need for incredible surround sound is a DVD with a Dolby Digital ( DD ) or DTS soundtrack.Almost all new movies will come in DD, as long as you get an original dvd. Pirated DVDs with camera prints will have only stereo sound.

Zhopudey, My man... Thank you again, I got pirated dvd in which 5.1 was written, Do you reckon they would actualy play 5.1 sound???

Also would all the speakers work if the DVD says 5.1 output on it(Pirated) or is it just dolby that all the speakers would work???

Sorry Guess I am confused again

Okay I got this sorted out myself, Well there is an option in the DVD player to check what sort of sound output the DVD comes with...

Most of the DVD's I have are pirated hence does not have 5.1 output..

I am not very sure about the length andy, but was good enough for my room,

I can find that out for you.....

But after getting the rca to mini converters the sound quality is really good

Waiting to find out what 5.1 output really is!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey zhops...remember you explaining me this a few months ago...rider took u on a smilar ride i guess :bleh:

Knight Rider, I need the length for the rear speakers to be at least 4m. 6 would be nice. Could u check it out for me please. Also, let me know if it delivers true 5.1 output for movies. Thx.

I have the same speakers. yes the length is a little more than 4m (id say 4.5-5, havent exactly measured) havent played any movies yet but 5.1 channel sound works perfectly fine.

okay, I have been experimenting for some time now, I tried with a DVD 9, Well the disc has an option to choose 5.1 output, I tried that but not all all the speakers were working.. When i tried the dvd menu, There was no 5.1 option at all, only 2.1 and 3.1,

My guess after all the valuable feedbacks I got from the other members is--

Because the DVD is pirated, it will not be able to deliver 5.1 output!!!(Is this true)

Andy, Will measure the length of the cables today and let you know tommorrow.(Sorry for the delay)
