I have LG LCD TV, Philips 5530 HT and Dell laptop. TV has 2 HDMI ports, HT has 1 HDMI port, Laptop 1 HDMI port.

What i want is to view HD (mkv)movies in the laptop on the LCD TV and get 5.1Ch sound out from the Home Theater System. I have to use the laptop since Home Theatre System does not support high definition movies(mkv).

So plzz guide me how to do this?

Are these the specs for your Philips? Got it from here:http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/h/hts5530_94/hts5530_94_pss_aen.pdf

Front / Side connections: Microphone In, MP3 Link, USB
•Rear Connections: AUX IN 1, AUX IN 2, Easy-Fit Speaker Connectors, Composite video (CVBS) output, Digital coaxial in, Component Video output, FM Antenna Socket, HDMI 1.3 output

Could not find any help on the TV's connectors, but it has a USB port, so why not play the movies thru that?

@Kevin Lane & abhi_jollyguy

Thanks dont have laptop rite now with me will check in evening.

@Gannu

Ya it has digital coaxial in.

@vivek.krishnan

Yap these are specifications of philips HT.

TV has USB port but it doesnt support MKV format.

Coaxial input doesn't help unless your LG TV has a coaxial out. Most displays have the toslink (optical) out. If your TV has a coaxial out, simply connect a RCA cable to the TV and the Philips HTIB receiver and select Aux. input on the receiver.

If your TV doesn't have any S/PDIF (Coaxial) out, the only solution to getting 5.1 channel audio is to get a USB soundcard with S/PDIF (Coaxial) out.

Since the TV doesn't support playback of .mkv files, may I suggest a media player with a coaxial out port? This way, you could get 5.1 output and support for .mkv files as well. Most players however come with a toslink out port. There are some however that does come with coaxial out or even both!

So u have any idea of cheapest HD player which might do the job of playing upto 1080p mkv videos and having digital coxial out:)

I think i should get media player or sound card will be good option?

@Gannu

So AC Ryan PLAY ON HD Essential should solve my problem? Or does WD Elements PLAY has coaxial out too? If WD has coaxial out then i might go for it.

Confirming u once again before buying:) I think AC RYAN POHD Essential should play upto 1080p mkv videos perfectly.

Any other place where i can get it cheaper.
