HTC ONE M8 on Groupon - 47799/-

Yes, it is not 2014, or even last year's standard. God knows why they are so arrogant to stick with it. Whatever, it depends on how much usage does your mobile phone get camera-wise. For me, it's irrelevant, I don't even use it to be honest, other than taking photos of my stuffs which go for sale :p

The only thing about the M8 is the s*** ultrapixel shooter. Every site I have visited agrees that the camera is not 2014 flagship standard.
Its a misunderstood camera like the m7. Down size the bigger MP's shots down to 4 MP and then compare.

Do those review sites do that ? no. So it isn't an apples to apples comparison.

You have to know what you want with this camera. It's a niche camera and in that niche nobody can beat it.

I cannot think of a way to test a camera that can get a shot faster than others in indoors conditions with varying light. Or one that can freeze motion with less blur. But this is just what the m7/m8 can do more consistantly and easier than others. Why ? because 4MP is very quick to process.

u mad?

M8 low light performance is better than S5 right now.

The Android Central and Police both have described the performance of the camera worse than S4. I think software updates will fix it also S5 shooting ability in day night is amazing. Probably it has the best day light performance in android.. (Z2 may pip it)..

Anyways, I look at a sony phone and it looks nice and then I look at Sony's android version and I just cant use it.

M8 with a 4s shutter is better at low light than the Z2 with static subjects. But they must be in the foreground. M8 allows you to set shuter sped which no android camera can do. It also allows to set iso with video. A first for any phone camera. Its camera software is feature rich. Closest match to Nokia camera software interface on android.

when they say the camera is worse they are primarily referring to a parameter known as texture. if you take a photo of trees with leaves the details won't come out as well as cameras tuned for it. This is true and is not what the m8 should be used for. You like to shoot scenery or any content where background details are prominent then don't use an htc one. If you do it will be a compromise. Ok but not comparable to others.

Samsung, apple, LG are good lighting optimised cameras, they cheat with low light. They won't venture too far from this niche. Good with both foreground & back if the lighting is right.

lumias & Z's have more light flexibility, good light and low light. General purpose, jack of all is more applicable to these. But it takes practice to get the best out of both. The previous 3 will be easier to use and more consistent in good light.

m7/m8 are foreground shooters, very fast with good capture in indoor situations. They can freeze moving subjects indoors better than the Z's. Better here means better chance to get the shot.

Decide which niche you fall into. If you get it wrong it does not make the camera crap, you just got your choice wrong.

For sharing photos to social sites the camera on the M8 is more than enough. Plus the crazy fast shutter speed is a boon. I don't know many people who would print out a 16MP picture. People who are serious about photography will definitely not be using a camera to click photos. All in all, it is a very potent smartphone camera.
If someone clicks a lot of photographs and is after detail, then yes this is not the phone for them, but in every other criteria, including battery life, M8 definitely kicks ass. The Gunmetal Grey and even the Gold are a sight to behold.
There is a reason I will probably never sell off my 808 Pureview, although a 1020 down the road might be tempting enough.

Apart from the camera, I feel M8 has another issue i.e.of bazel. M7 had capacitive buttons but M8 has on screen buttons. Which practically means that M8 has a significantly bigger bazel than M7. As M8 has already gone for bigger screen hence HTCshould have tried to
reduce the bezel inorder to reduce the overall dimension of the phone. Sadly HTC could not so.

Yes, the on screen buttons in M8 are disgusting, still don't see the point of virtual screen buttons other than wasting screen real estate. And please stop discussing about the camera, whoever gonna buy the M8, will buy it knowing about it's camera. And blr_p has a point, it's meaningless to compare a 4 mp image with a 16 mp one, both should be same for comparison.

I think it's better to discuss about the price / availability of the phone rather than the already known features / specifications.

PS : What's the official Twitter account for hTC India?

Also what's with the 16GB model. Granted there is an SDcard slot but why can't they have launched the 32GB at this price just like all the models in US. Also in US they are giving HTC Advantage with 50GB GDrive space and 1 screen replacement for free even if it is an accident. Pay $29 for next day delivery and instead of repairing the screen they send out a new phone.

The size of the M8 than M7 because of the dual speakers HTC has put. One of them is on the top and the other one is on the bottom.

So better speakers was the reason why the size has increased.

Despite the increase in size, the device feels great in hand and I could easily use it with one hand. Yes the on screen buttons are a little bigger than what they should be, but nothing an Xposed mod can't take care of. You can even remove them completely and use pie controls. Things like these don't perturb me as there always will be devs who take care of these things. With Xposed, one doesn't even need to flash a ROM anymore.
As for the lens cover issue, all I see is just 2 guys ranting. They might be saying the truth, but I know 15 other people who have had the M8 since launch day and they haven't faced any such issue. Not even one of them.

Yes, Boom Sound. But the M8 sounds better compared to the M7.
So would you consider upgrading ?[DOUBLEPOST=1399545574][/DOUBLEPOST]

I don't know what to make of it but you search xda for scratched lens, you will find the issue crops up with many models.

I would have if they had improved the camera...The other things like speed, screen, etc. don't matter since the HTC One is blazing fast as it is...
