Irrational exhuberance or simply put madness has begun. reminds me of the year 2K dot com stock boom/bust. 86 thousand crores (i am at a loss about the number of zero's after 86) for 2/3 stake in a mobile phone co. ......phew!!!!

Totally agree with you, i dont know why but i think this bubble will bust soon.

Absolutely deejay !

Even TATA's Corus deal was a bit far fetched, there were rumours that CSN was backed by LNM just to up the bidding a bit, so the fact of the matter is its purely competitive business..

Currently AFAIK...hutch network is as good as Airtel if not better than airtel gsm coverage , this was not the case last year...i had horrible experience with Hutch n/w,,,but since there were too many contacts who were using my no , i decided to wait a lil longer to change the service provider , & since ~1 month...the network coverage is fabulous..

I was getting 90% network on Nandi hills the other day @ 5AM when all others were fluctuating a lot..:o

I prefer Airtel..... coverage everywhere....

For all of Hutch's ads, they dont give that good coverage.
In mu Circle all of we have each and every Operators sim.

I have Hutch, my friend have AirTel, BPL, Reliance, Garuda, Bsnl, MTNL

All (excluding me) have Network Problem.

BPL and Airtel - no coverage inside friends house while Hutch at last shown 1 bar:)

Friends with Airtel and BPL need to peep out of window to talk while I am enjoy connectivity inside house and can received and dial easily.:)

In my house it is different, everyone in my house (mom's 2 mobiles, dad and sis) have Airtel. No problem at all...

But in one room of my house where my family gets superb reception and connectivity, my friends with Hutch dont get any signal...

EDIT:

VOdafone sells 5.6% stake in Airtel to Bharti.

Vodafone sells 5.6% stake in Airtel to Bharti

Won't it REDUCE the amount of competation ??

I mean, before it, the main competation was- Hatch : Airtel : VSNL
(Tata and Relience are of different technology, so not dragging them here)

But, now, as Vodafone buys Hatch and he also share in Airtel,
so, the competation will be : (Airtel+Vodafone) : VSNL
(after-all, Airtel and Vodafone is 10% 'bhai bhai')

Reduction of competation is bad for end-users.

what are you talking eh??

this is an acquisition . (LOL) Bsnl are no where now . stupid plans but good coverage in my city . yep I concur with Nikhil here , Airtel' coverage is excellent :)

yea similarly overvaluated deal after Corus . but since Indian' mobile is the fastest growing market in the world , I think Vodafone will benefit . Hutch operates in 16 circles out of 23 in India

Vodafone sold 5.6% of their stake in Airtel after deciding to buy "HATCH".

and Vodafone and Airtel are not so much bhai bhai any more...... IT is not HATCH all the way !!

What we can expect, aggressive pricing strategy, better 3G Services when available. The best thing: Yeh deal choro ko nahi mila; I hope you guys understand whom I referring to.

wow. Hutch is now vodaphone?? 1st Orage-->Hutch-->vodaphone? when will the name hutch will change to vodaphone? wat about services/plans?

In fact it is like:
ESSAR Telecom -> Hutchinson Essar -> Vodafone Essar

I won't have mind if Reliance had won....that maybe would have meant cheaper call rates b/w hutch(my current conx) and reliance(my family and some of my friends conx)

hmm though vodafone sold 5.6% of airtel shares..airtel bought it at 100 rupees cheaper than market rate........and they planning to sell that at a premium to singular.....

Also vodafone signed some deal with airtel via which vodafone customer will use airtel ntw when they come to india and all....so i guess airtel would had also helped vodafone to get hutch..becoz all this stuff wont have been possible if it went into reliance hand....

also the biggest sufferer would had been cdma user if reliance had got hutch
