Heyo folks need your help .

i have a budget of 25-30k and i'd like your suggestion if i should get my pc upgraded or i shall get myself PS3 instead?

my current rig- AMD X3 720 + asus mobo (780 chipset i guess not sure) , 4770 ati gpu, 2x2gb 1333mhz corsair ram on corsair vx450 psu . Now i need to shift this rig for office use, so was wondering if i should get myself i3 2100 + h67(1155) gigabyte mobo + 6770ati gpu + 21.5 dell ips monitor for home use or else get a ps3 as i already have sony vaio lappy which can be used at home .

I am not a hardcore gamer . i play games like TF2 , EA formula1 2010 occationally .

25-30 k is for proccy + mobo + gpu + monitor . will use my current corsair ram , WD 640GB aaks hdd and 450vx psu .

Also , i have heard that ps3 is only good if someone has got lcd tv but i am using a normal crt 21 sony and have no plans to upgrade to a LCD tv .

Here need your help what i should do ? get a PS3 or else the pc with above config?

thanks in advance :)

what monitor do you have?, you can use the PS3 with a monitor which supports HDMI, if you plan on getting the PS3 that is..

You have said you are an occassional gamer, not a hardcore gamer. PS3 is for hardcore gamers only. PC servers a lot of purpose other than games. Also, FPS games like TF2 are far far better in PC mouse rather than PS3 controller. Hence, I vote for pc. Just make sure you get a good 22/24 inch monitor like Benq E2420 HD/Dell U2311H or something like that.

Also, I would suggest not to use your current rig for office purpose. It is too good to be used for normal office works. You get a new config for your office purpose and retain your current system for your personal use. That will be far far better. Get the following for your office use:

1. Some celeron/cheap amp proccy + motherboard combo
2. Generic 400 watt psu from iball + cabinet
3. 2 gb ram
4. 320 gb hdd
5. normal mouse + keyboard
6. Use existing CRT for display

Keep whole of your current system + add an lcd display for personal use.

Only satisfaction with a console purchase is/are:

1) The games coming out for a particular console will work. Come what may.

You dont need to inquire about the requirements or re-align your h.w again.

2) You dont block the pc for your own usage only.

3) Exclusives are simply not to be missed.

Unless the OP is into 3DModeling / Animation or other graphic intensive positions, I suggest going with simforgotten

PS3 controller sucks while playing FPS games and even racing games.

If you want to buy a console, buy XBOX 360 @ 13000/- and spend the rest money on your PC or put a graphics card into your lappy.

I dunno why u guyz re suggesting him to get a ps3/xbox360.

He is a casual gamer, he occassionally plays TF2 like games, EA 2010 and what will he do with a console? I strongly recommend against getting a console and wasting near 20k+ money if someone is not into gaming for at least 3-4 hours per day. Getting a new pc for office work as well as upgrading some parts of the existing pc if budget permits is a far better option.

You cant conclude like that saying console sucks. Consoles also have some advantages which I am pretty sure you have already read.

True, but you gotta agree, consoles don't have Wow, nor a mouse.

And for controller style games, you can hook a X360 controller to PC.

Good option.

I have never owned any console so cannot educate you regarding the wonders and blunders of getting one. What I will say though is that there are tons of console games which I would want on my pc, both xbox and ps3 exclusives, that is. Most pc games are getting ported to consoles so you wouldnt be missing out on anything. Plus, since you have a laptop at home to do the 'pc' stuff then why not a console?

None of my friends who bought a console are hard core gamers, barring one. They all are weekend gamers and have a lot of fun.

I had a 1GB 4650 till April and an AMD m550 2.2 and it ran all latest games in Medium/High settings and I connected it to my LCD via HDMI. Games like FIFA, PES, SF4, Dead Space 2, NFS etc etc. w/ el cheapo controller. Ran Crysis 2 demo in lowest setting.

So ask yourself what exactly will you be doing with a PC upgrade worth 25-30K ? IMO console exclusives are worth the plunge unless you are more into spending hours exploring Witcher or want serious eye candy.

If you want to buy a console, buy XBOX 360 @ 13000/- and spend the rest money on your PC or put a graphics card into your lappy.

Makes sense.

So he should spend 30K upgrading his PC to play what? TF2?

And the first time you bought a pc/console, did you already know what games you were going to get hooked to? I certainly didn't.
