At the risk of inviting a flame war, and am sorry to say this Praka, but Linux (any distribution ) is not yet suitable or mature for desktop usage
it fits your needs only if you are
A) an ol' grandma (whose geek grandson configured her (plug-in random wild animal here)- Ubuntu for her e-mail/browsing needs
OR
B) A hard core geek devoid of any social life whose life revolves around googling for information and editing a random conf file everytime anything new needs to be done with the system
Windows may have its flaws but it's windows (either in legal or ahem form) that is largely responsible for the widespread usage of personal computers in a home environment (or offices too)
