You seriously need to reconsider some items.

Paying $172 for A8N SLI is madness. Get it from here insted.

Its gona add hugely to the shipping weight too.

Also they ship by UPS. There is no way you will bypass the customs in that case. Getting items bypassed the customs in someone's bagage is different than this.

They will slap customs duty on all items and that will include the heavy 16% CVD + local charges. The UPS/fedex has their own clearing charges. And there is little you can do to avoid them as the shipment will include the invoice.

Consider all these things before ordering.

Well sorry to break the news to u kido. I was about to order a 3400+ mobile from shentech since they said they accept credit cards. However on mailing them I found out, indian issued intl credit cards won't be accepted and only wire transfer is allowed. So I backed out at the last moment. Wire transfer is costly :(

Aparantly they dont accept the CC for higher value items too. And this is whole PC parts.

By the way. Check out the market section by today afternoon. i will have some real goodies for sale ;)

If you go for a Venice, go for a 3000+. Otherwise, go at least for a 3700 SD.

And the BFG 7800 GTX is ok. No use in waiting waiting waiting for better deals. And there is no guarantee that the prices will fall after the launch of the R5xx.

And what abt RAM?? If you are buying the DFI , go for Funky's OCZ Gold VX for 7.5K. OR if you are particular abt 2 GB, then think abt getting that also from abroad.

I think the OCZ Gold VX will do decently on the A8N-SLI too. I think it has pretty high Vdimm settings.
ROFL A8N-SLI only does upto 3V and is absolutely of no use with VX. Most VX sticks need 3.2V to even boot at 2-2-2.

@kidoman: Also buying the GTX is a waste of money. You'd most probably be CPU limited with the GT itself. So save 150$ and get the GT.

Ok, after a lot of convincing by Goldi, I have made a few radical changes in my head:

1) I would not ever go for SLI/CROSSFILE. Come next upgrade I will just sell my uber leet GFX card here (ya in TE) and get the Current Top of the Line model. Following from the fact that a single 7800GTX 3>>>> 2 x 6800Ultra SLI.

2) I will wait for the X1800XT card to be released (512 MB) and then make a informed decision on the GFX card. I will choose whoever is the winner. And if the 512 MB is within $600, then here I come. But the CPU, Mobo, PSU, CPU Cooler, RAM? are coming right now.

3) I am leaning towards non-SLI boards and solutions now. So please suggest some solutions. I already have 2 x 1 GB Hynix D43. I would love to purchase the RAM from you guys, but can you find someone to buy my Hynix ? If not, I will be used (forced rather) to use dividers.

What say?

Ok, guys here's a thought. I can try pawning my currect unl33t RAM for some other hardware but where can I get good overclockable RAM in India (2 x 1 GB i.e.) ? I have got some great deals (from funky and masky) but none of them are selling 2 GB.

Any idea how much the Western Digital Raptor 36.7 GB 10k RPM will cost in India? In India because need warranty.

Thank you.

Karan

Well after lots of burning in now mu vx boots fine at 2-2-2-6 @3.0v.
but ya its not the RAM to be coupled with A8N SLI Dlx unless you are ready to do vdimm cap mod on the board.
The RAM is getting better and better as i am using it.
For masky it meeded 3.2V just to do 2-2-2-5
Not at 3.2 i am doing 2-2-2-5 @ 245Mhz. Thats the beauty of OCZ and Winbond UTT :D
@kiddo, keep the hynix D43 is you cant sell it. it should work just fine with a8n sli or a8n-e.
Also get a8n sli or a8n-E. These two are very good board and easier to mod to give 3.3V vdimm. Its simple mod where you need to connect 2 pins by wire. I have done it and its really easy.
But tell me, what have you decided finally. Sill trying to source parts from abroad or buying it here. There is no point in getting ASUS boards from US or anywhere outside india.

The best 1GB sticks are twinmos UCCC as funky said. I managed 274 out of a stick memtest error free for nearly half an hour. If you are buying those, make sure they are UCCC before you take them. There are some modules with D43 floating around as well :\. The raptor was 5.5K a year and half ago when i bought it. Now it should be around 5K.

The Raptor is for 4.5k.

Id say stick with the Hynix. Hold on, do u have the hynix right now? If not, get Transcend 1GB*2 Sticks.

An Asus A8N-E Deluxe costs around 7 - 8k.

What id suggest is.

Since you already have the Super LanBoy and the 997DF

Asus A8N-E (Deluxe is actually a waste of cash) - 7k

AMD 3700+ - 16k

Antec 500W PSU - ~3k (Not sure about this one)

2 GB Transcend RAM ~ 10k

Get a 6600 Normal to hold you till you can get your hands on the x1800 xl or xt or 7800 GTX (whichever performs better) ~5k

This whole rig costs you 40k around. Then get a x1800xl or 7800 GTX.

I Hope some good card releases by March-April 2006. My mum going to USA :(. I wanna upgrade!)

@ Goldie, not even in ur dreams would u get the Antec PSU for 3K. The Smart Power 2.0 450 costs 4.2K. If he's going for a 550W PSU, then it sure would cost 5.5K. The A8N-E costs 6.5K and 2GB of Transcend is pure crap. Don't expect it to OC - Only good enuf for the trash can if u ask me. My 256 meg sticks ( 2*256 ) pant 'n' rant to 221 - NO more. So OC'ing a pair of 1GB sticks, don't even have to say anything abt. them. How abt. getting a pair of Crucial sticks ? U can order from Crucial directly, they ship to India. I think Chaos has been screaming Crucial every time OC'ing 2*1 GB sticks have been discussed. They do gr8 timings and OC very well for 1 Gig sticks. If ur willing to wait for a month, u will get DFI here with full warranty. So it's ur take now.

Okie, prices revised.

sus A8N-E (Deluxe is actually a waste of cash) - 6.5k

AMD 3700+ - 16k

Antec 500W PSU - ~5k (Not sure about this one)

2 GB Transcend RAM ~ 10k

^^ No Transcend.... Its pure crap blitz chips and costs 1k more than twinmos based on UCCC. If buying abroad then its crucial ballistix or crucial value (based on micron 5bd chips) depending upon willingness to part with cash :P. If in india, twinmos UCCC, nothing else!

Hi.........

OMG, the wd raptor 36.7 is 5K ? I was just quoted 6.9K. Thanks guys for the Info. Where can I source the drive in Mumbai or Delhi? I am thinking of getting 2 of these and put them in RAID-0 as system drives. I am also thinking of getting a 7200rpm 250GB drive for all my data. Which brand would be good for it? Seagate/ Hitachi? Suggest.........

I will be getting most of my parts now excepting the GFX card. I will get that only after the X1800XT 512 is released and some proper benchmarking results are out. My budget for the gfx card = $600.

Also, if i go for the A8N-E, can i make it compatible with Crucial Value RAM requirement by simple voltmodding? If yes can you suggest a link. I dont want a SLI solution but I want other features like the Sil 3114 SATA interface.

PRIME ABGB is quoting "XFX 7800GTX" for 30K. Also, the AMD 3500+ Venice is costing 15500 and the 3800+ Venice is costing 19000. What should I do? I will be going for a financing option so a little extra mullah is alright. Is going for a AMD X2 4200+ or 4400+ a good bet. The 4200+ is around 30k.

My cable Internet is screwed so posting this from my dad's laptop. I hope my clan did their training tonight properly.

Karan

go for a 3700 SD. Dual Cores are not really worth it today unless you are heavily into multitasking or something like that.

I bought my raptor from hyderabad.... No idea of bombay prices. If you want all the extra frills, go for the MSI NF4 SLI/Ultra board. Better still wait a month and get the DFI Lanparty UT SLi-DR Expert. (Rev2 lanparty board) Crucial RAM doesn't need high voltages. 2.8-2.9 is all you'll need :)

Just got the confirmation. DFI boards will be here by the 20th of October. IMHO, 20 days is worth the wait.
