These are simply not worth the money you are investing. I had a similar curiosity few years back and got myself a new macbook air. As for programming, I had difficulties with it since the default compiler for macOS for C/C++ is different and didn't support openmp (related to my course work) and oracle database isn't supported either. I had to find a workaround every time and over the years I feel I'm stuck with the laptop. Even more so since everything works out of the box for linux and windows. Also when AI/ML is all the rage, apple has ended the support for nvidia GPUs and is working on it's own metal libraries as an alternative.

Now when the CPU market is more competitive and intel i5 8th gen powered notebooks are quadcore and hyper threaded, I don't think going back to a dual core old macbook is a wise investment. If you really want to just have experience, just get a NUC and try hackintoshing it, or rather try getting a macbook air for 20-25k range. The screen will be way worst than competition but at least you will have a mush faster ssd to some what compensate for the bad experience.

I tried the Hackand tosh but things not working and I am a computer engineer and I need to work on it and understand it .

I also want to dive into a Mac using something like Macbook Air but the prohibitively high cost and my super sparse usage of home laptop. But may be one day, I will get a Macbook.

Currently both my home laptops are in unusable state (keyboard doesn't fully work In one and screen doesn't in another). Whenever I need to do laptop stuff I just pickup my office one.

No it is too costly sorry friend
Whats your budget? You can get macbook air, macbook pro 13 inch and old 2012-2013 pro for pretty cheap. But i suggest not to buy them as they are useless. Go for windows instead if your budget is low

Good condition laptop, i7 cpu, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd, 15 inch non-retina display. 5 years old... asking price is 25000 with battery backup of upto 3 hours

Forget everything else. MD101 has a below average display. If that is ok for you, buy it and add an SSD. Adding an SSD will make a huge difference to the MacOS experience. If you need a good display, get a used 2012/2013 MBP with Retina Display. You should be able to get that around 35-40k. DO NOT BUY 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 models.

Why not a MBP feom the year 2016,2017,2018,2019..?? I am just curious to know the drawbacks of these models that you've mentioned.
