thats the thing.

see SGX 530 is prehistoric, it's less than half of the iPhone 3GS GPU. And all those games that worked brilliantly on the galaxy s, kiss them, or their high frame rate good bye.

couldn't they have included AT LEAST the SGX 535??? Bummer...
 
The main [roblem I can see with this phone is lack of community support.(Roms,Perf tweaks)

OMAP 3630 is supported very well BUT for Motorola phones.

The same Chipset with Samsung shitty (as history tells) driver support and rfs system mighnt not rock that much.

That said and done I will be very careful To underrate this SOC. Moto Droid X plays every HD game you can throw at it. A bit of community love and this could be a decent alternative to defy. Ofcourse it is inferior to hummingbird but the CPU is same....

As for defy , some still say It carries 3630 while moto says it runs 3610. does not matter because it has same gpu sgx 530.

and surely better rom support for it!

But isnt this a better alternative for the ones who dont want to use Custom ROMS and just use the default one that comes with the phone.
 
I really dont expect the prices of either the Moto or the HTC phones to drop much because of the SL. Just look at the prices for the Milestone, which has hardly moved down since it was introduced. Similarly the Wildfire still sells at a premium even though the LG O1 has eaten up its market. Both of these are quality players & hence do not respond too much to newer launches. I have tried the Galaxy S, its an awesome phone, but incredibly plasticky. Infact the entire range from the korean giants is very plasticky & just does not have the robust feel.

Because there are people in the world who use their phones for calling, sms, email, browser and few games.

These people are least interested in searching forums to find Custom ROMs for phones and trying it on their phone.

They just want things to work out of the box.

And this makes up the majority of the cell phone users :) The enthusiasts' numbers pales in comparison to this.
 
This phone is surely gonna be a good hit with the crowd. Specs seems to be nice, camera performs pretty good.

Heck reviewer even mentioned this gonna be favored even over the HTC Desire HD leave alone the reg desire.

exactly, thats what phones were meant to do... we are socialising creatures...

BUT NOT to socialise on phone, it's face to face interaction, and I fear this and the next generations are gonna miss that out.
 
I am interested to buy this phone can someone confirm me that this runs 2.2 android & i will not be dependent on samsung to update to 2.3? I can do it myself from android market. I ask this bcoz Indian version has slightly different spec than the one shown on gsmareana.

No, It would be fine if all features worked fine out of the box in a samsung android phones. Unfortunately they dont. When you buy a 25k phone like SGS people expect the headline features like GPS to work as expected. But in many SGS it does not work. Also many people faced problems with messaging app after upgrading to official Froyo.
Thats when people take a google search and end up in the world of roms/fixes.
If sammy does deliver good SW then there would be no reason for the majority to go the custom route...

just my 2c.
 
this phone is surely worth the 19k price tag....

i have no idea how much difference will the SGX530 graphics processor make compared to the PowerVR SGX540 on Galaxy S..(dont think so it matters a lot)

only major difference i see is the Super Amoled screen... but still SLCD is also great..

also no one will be concerned about the 4GB storage reduction....
 
I am bit confused it seems samsung still consider India as some 3rd world country & launches the same model with lower spec here in India. I went to samsung store in GIP mall noida & the sales guy cant deal with my queries I asked specific thing & wanted a demo of a real phone as I am here to buy which they say its not company policy, you get it billed & then have your demo.

WTF do they think they have opened the showroom for?

flipkart seems to have typo errors in specs & have copied the international specs without checking with samsung India site which I cant confirm.
