iATKOS v2.0i

Hi guyz,
I wanna give MAC a shot & wanna install these popular uphuck releases on my PC. just noticed iATKOS v2.0i Released just a few days back. does it work fine?? I also see some "Re-Release" versions saying the initial images released were corrupt.

Can someone confirm abt the release?? also If this thing can be tested on VMWARE, it will be an added boon.
Pls enlighten me !!!!

Thx

Downloading right now..Take the re-release..

For any other doubts go to insanelymac forums..they are dedicated to these..

Just a heads up, burn the dvd at 2x else there can be problems..
check if all ur hardware is supported..

Use everest ultimate edition for windows to find out the specifics about your hardware if u dont know them..

Only then proceed..

Ended up downloading 3images last time wen leopard released, none worked for me..but i hav seen many people having no problem with it, so u can try..
Wat wil u install on??
i'm installin on dell vostro laptop..some of the proprietry hardware in it do not hav drivers for mac..
One more important thing iAtkos is for INTEL ONLY...

I guess I'll proceed with the re-release, in a day or 2 when some more reviews & comments shoot out.

I'll be installing it on
Desktop: C2D E6300/msi P965-neo/2gb RAM/
Laptop: HP pav. 2601TU Pentium dual core/intel chipset/2gb RAM

I have an Asus SATA DVD-writer, min speed it shows in Nero is 8x, any idea what burning soft. w'd be ideal for this purpose ?

@ mehar--Its not the burner.Find media thats compatible..u can try at 8x too but sometimes abt 25% the errors are cause of the write speed..dunno why..and the error show during installation are such that u cant even trace them back..
Also check the compatiblity list for ur ahrdware..if its common, then no probs..
@shashank--ya it can be used as a proper Os once u've got everything proper..HARSH fromt this forum is running a hackintosh..

I downloaded the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD n tried installing it on the rig with specs:

Q6600-ASUS Blitz Formula-2x1GB PC2-9600 T-Xtreem RAM-HD3870X2-HX620W-Water Cooled.

After installations (without any errors) I got a popup saying to Restart to complete. On restart, get the same popup saying to restart...n again

Now kalyway 10.5.1 was working just fine (including the audio, network, etc) but except the driver support for the 3870X2 n so I tried the 10.5.2 which has drivers for the X2. I tried installing the 10.5.1 again n manually upgrading to 10.5.2 by downloading the updates 4m Apple site n it still gave the same issue.

Now I ve no choice but to run 10.5.1 n add the driver kext file for the X2.

The kalyway uses Vanilla Kernel... wonder if I'd ve better luck with iATKOS v2.0i :/

Why dou need to upgrade a working install...
Man the kind of work it need to get one working i'l never change a working one..
Just install the kexts..

Mehar: First this takes a lot of work, lots of things to know, I'm a bit rusty and I would suggest you read up the forums at insanelymac.com and osx86scene.com. Regarding your questions, yes it works with sata and with vmware but it's very slow. The best way to to install it on its own partition, and here if you are not careful or don't know what you are doing can ruin your windows installation. There are some pretty comprehensive guides available at insanelymac.

I have it working on my system which is nearly identical to yours but that was ages ago. 2 things to be aware of:

1. Is your dvd writer connected to the jmicron port of your p965 mb or is it a sata dvd writer? OSX WILL NOT install from a dvd drive connected to the jmicron port of the p965 motherboards. There is a workaround which installs via vmware to a real partition, there is a guide for it at insanelymac forums.

2. What graphic card do you have?

OSX works with most hardware, I am not upto date but the key problem areas I remember are intel wifi chipsets, I don't know whether x3100 drivers are working yet, and jmicron port - present in most p965 based motherboards. This port works after install but you can't install OSX from a DVD writer connected to Jmicron.

1. Is your dvd writer connected to the jmicron port

No, My DVD-RW is on an intel SATA port out of the 4 & all 3 hard disks are on intel ports only. Jmicron port is unsued on my pc so not a concern here.

2. What graphic card do you have?
As mentioned before, I have ATi X1900XT, which is officially supported since it was offered by apple itself as an upgrade if I remember correctly.

Also, I have a separate dedicated Hard drive to try mac OS on, so no concerns here of mingling my partition or boot records.

That's cool then. No Jmicron problems and X1900XT is supported perfectly. All your hardware is good to go. You just have to put the DVD in and install away.

Just take the time to read at least one install thread at insanelymac, I would suggest lo look for one based on your motherboard MSI 965 or any 965 based board.

in my case ToH also worked correctly, but I am now turning to iAtKos just to try it out. Hope it will not scramble my PC.

I think SSE2 is not supported in iAtkos, isn't it ?

Also,
If u download a image off net, does it mean u dont own the software ??
Hell no..
I may own the original leopard but it may not hav all the drivers and apps..So to make life easy, i simply download a customised image..

Now say wat do u find illegal in it??
At the risk of repeating myself, im still saying, Please dont spoil this thread..
Its perfectly Okk.Please report the thread if u like...
