lol mediahome.....
Nice effort to find new options for us..
appreciate you for it...
Still the g skills are the best value..
But the best ones are these...
Mushkin - Enhanced Performance Memory
sad no one gets them..
although a little more costly, the least no of failures and an almost constant top performer.. cant say that for even corsair.. some of their kits behave terribly in tests.. but MUSHKIN never..
FTW
Mushkin - Enhanced Performance Memory

definitely sir,

considering the low rate of failure of mushkins.. it alleviates to an extent one of the main concerns about imports..
The DOA units and the long RMA procedure it causes..
Mushkins are costly but customers who import it can be little more comfortable knowing the fact that the memory they bought wont conk off so fast..

in times like these i wish we had a well arranged database of ddr2 rams (specially 2x2gb) here on TE to see which one oc best and which one are vfm (hard to beat trascend at 2.2k)

Here is a rough order... according to me....
1)Mushkin (esp their redline series) great overclockers, low failure rate, quite decent performance throughout all modules
2)Corsair( esp dominator series) best out of the box performance, decent overclockers, all serieses arent that great.. some XMs modules are shit..
3)Patriot Viper.. best overclockers.. decent perf out of the box, but not quite so reliable at all times..
4)OCZ are pretty decent all round.. but different kits have varied pricing so the modules vary from good value to really costly ones. but platinum series is overall very good
5)G skill decent value, decent overclocking, ok performance out of the box, not so reliable also..
6)transcend kingston and all are value, and except the kingston Hyper-x, all are terrible over-clockers
:ohyeah:

BTW i wanted to clarify..
By "not so reliable" i meant that , it is so when compared to other memory kits..
The failure rate of mushkins are less than 5%...
while for a G-Skill it may be around 10%...

That will be the maximum difference between the two...

But considering imports... nothing more than 0% can get you any peace of mind.(sadly though its not possible... even with the mushkins)...

i read patriots have serious issue with reliability many ppl were complaining ram dying on them. ive heard great things abt dominator but kinda expensive,

I dont agree to this. All depends on the IC's used on each.

cheap vfm is a better idea, im planning to buy 8gb, i dont think i can afford 8gb of dominator, transcend will only cost 4.4k but im willing to spend more within a limit if there is a better option.
edit: i dont know which is the best option right now but 3months ago when pi black 2x2gb was the craze i went through few pages on xs and overclock.net and dominator was the first choice for their oc potential, patriot was good too but frequently dying on ppl.

i've had a very good exp with OCZ... have the ddr plantinum series and ddr2 titanium series on different pc's running 24x7 no issues all so far...

the ddr plantinum ones are almost 2 years old now...
