Hi

I'm looking at buy a new set of IEMs. I listen to a good mix of genres namely: rock, blues, pop, punjabi, and club. I'm looking for a comfortable and balanced sounding iem with high clarity. All of my music is either mp3 320kbsps or FLAC.

Previous IEML: Brainwavz M4
Currently IEM: Soundmagic E10

As per the headphonelist.com, for IEMs under $100, Ultimate Ears UE 600 ($60) and JVC FXD80 ($64) look very appealing!

Please Advice!

What kind of sound signature are you looking for ? Balanced / Neutral ? More bassy + mids and laidback treble or do you like sharp extended treble ? If possible let us know what you liked best about your previous IEMs.

I would consider some of the below IEMs,

Vsonic GR07 classic / BE which is 99$ / 130$ respectively . There seems to be a lot of different version with some differences in sound signature so do check which one suits your taste more.

RHA M750 is also a good option with warm sound with emphasis on bass but not too boomy, and i guess they provide 3 years of warranty which is great.

Shure SE215 has somewhat laidback sound , removable cable and 98$ on amazon .

If you want something more close to neutral , the HiFiMan RE-400 Waterline would be best suited.

If you are looking for balanced sounding IEM with high clarity at this budget so only 2 IEMs comes to my mind as Faheem also mentioned in his post:

HiFiMan RE-400 and VSonic GR07 Classic.

I'm not really an audio enthusiast, so it's a little difficult to explain the sound. Because I listen a wide variety of genres, I think I should buy something neutral sounding, though I do enjoy a bit of bass and rumble in all music. What bugs me most is when the sound, the vocals and the instruments aren't clear!

VSonic GR07 bass edition, seems like they are decently neutral with some added bass. You guys can advice on this. I've read the reviews on a few websites, and on amazon a few people are complaining about one of the channels going dead or the cable shorting. Moreover, from what I've read there isn't a distributor for vsonic in India either, so getting warranty will also cost money.

^ Personally I feel Vsonic GR07 BE would be perfect for you when you say "I do enjoy a bit of bass and rumble in all music. " . The Vsonic has a very good bass punch and rumble but it doesnt overshadow the detailing of your midrange or instruments , overall sound is close to neutral /borderline V-shaped . soundstage is good if not the best or very spacious .

If you dont need that bass rumble , want something extremely neutral - go for RE-400.

Thanks dude, this really helps. Though the warranty thing worries me a little.

GR07 BE is a little over my budget right now, and I'll have to save a little before I can buy em. I was getting a good deal on Ultimate Ears UE600vi so I've bought them locally for Rs.4,500. They are definetely an improvement over my SoundMagic E10. The music is a lot more cleaner and vivid, even though the bass is less evident.
