But how can actual 'journalists' report such blatant lies?
As a former journalist myself, let me assure you that they can because their salaries are dependent on it. Let me clear a misconception that most people across India and the globe have. They have a romantic and antiquated notion of journalism where it is the 'fourth pillar of democracy' and all that jazz which might have perhaps existed when our ancestors fought for freedom against the British, but in the 21st century, journalism is just a business like any other. It is a business run by huge mega corporations or big businessmen. It is just a job like any other and a poorly-paid, thankless job at that. If you want unbiased news, best of luck with that.
P.S. If media had done their job, our country, perhaps, wouldn't be divided on religious lines like today.

If the soldiers claim that it is a poorly paid job, so we are off to sleep at the time of war, or if the doctors, that we won't save lives for it is a thankless job, we would call them useless and morally corrupt. Let's not make excuses for these TRP greedy lying pieces of sh*t. Low wages or lack of appreciation does not absolve them of their moral bankruptcy.

well pointed out.
Sadly , I have lost all respect for Journalist and journalism. Much thanks to Arnab ( Republic also)
I know there might be some who really still hold their ethics high but they will never be allowed to do their job honestly or allowed to reach wider public.

My father use to praise a lot Brakha Dutt and called her brave journalist and all during Kargil days . Though he is no more but over the years I realized how she too just doing her salaried job. When she was told to lie...she would...when she was told to say truth she would.

I dont respect her anymore but I dont hate her also.

You learn to understand everything is mostly just business.

He certainly came prepared

We have a conflict going on

Yes it does if it jams the other side from figuring out what is happening.

Seeing some of the Pak comments, they think we're misinformed. No we're not. The IT cell is doing it's job

There is a noticeable difference in our info operations compared to last time. Began with blocking over 8k known Pak twitter handles and the results are showing.

See how quickly these handles are reacting

That part about the "poor pay" was mentioned matter-of-factly. Didn't intend to steer the conversation into the direction of morality and duties. Also, you seem to have confused two sets of people - the journalists or reporters (for laypersons) on the ground who are drafting the reports and the bosses at the top who force them to produce such stuff. Both are two distinct sets of human beings. In any case, I understand your sentiment and what you are writing about is a discussion for another day. As a former poor journalist (and still poor person) myself I would be happy to talk about morality and other such lofty ideals. However, just to set the record straight, the folks who run the media networks are neither poor nor suffer from lack of appreciation. They are simply morally bankrupt and it is business and profits first for them.

It's being done on purpose and at the governments direction
I have seen the random twitter account -> Indian national news channel pipeline operate in real time. Everytime something stupid happens in India people like iyermitra will come up with some 69D chess high IQ explanation for it. It's not that complicated. Same old Indian media incompetence. They have no reputation to lose anyway because no one with half a brain expects them to be reliable anyway.

Something more going on here..

SO now we live in a world where blatant lie peddling is termed as "POSITIVE AUXILIARY ASSISTANCE"!!
Not sure whether I find that deeply disturbing or mildly amusing!

and no, whatever stupid psy ops this moron is referring to is psy ops on regular indians like us...
what pakistani would watch our gutter trash news channels when even we can't
