No offense Renegade, but I am against changing the name from TechEnclave to something else. It has been over 6 year, I have been visiting this forum daily. Everywhere, I tell people about TE and how great it is. Even in our office, we discuss about the "hot and happening" things on TE. TE and TechEnclave is like virtual home for us. I know change is necessary but it doesn't mean that we should change the name. We can improve this forum, extend it with the coolest things. Name "TechEnclave" has become a brand. TechEnclave is not that hard to pronounce. I know there are many websites having Tech word.

It's hard to build the empire, easy to destroy. Most of the people know this place as TechEnclave (TE). I think we should keep it the way it is. Let's improve the forum by adding some cool functionality, cool looking template..

It's just that, I love this place as it is. (It was awesome back in 2008-09) though. I still miss the activity we had in 2008-09.

PS : These are my views on this topic, I might be wrong. :-)

In my opinion changing the name as for catchy-word sake ,as talking about name "Technclave" we just say TE and go on..(and they know what i'm talking about)
even the InstantGeek is going to be only "IG" it is worst than TE(it feel like talking about iOS)


On popularity and advertisement point of view we should visit colleges or arrange live TE contest in cities.:)

I agree wholeheartedly...It might sound a Bit mushy,but TE has been with me for a long time like a good friend and I don't want the name of my best friend Changed.

No Matter what name its changed into, it will always remain for the classes,as for the masses who don't even remember TE or Cant Google,don't deserve to be here,as someone rightly has put
 
I am against the Change of Name.

I personally would not want TE's name to Change at all. It is brilliant. Why would you want to change something Brilliant. TE sound so professional. It kind of has become a Brand. Why would you want to Rebrand when you are on the top. It makes not sense. No Offense MODs.

If you wish to help people who are here just for getting a query resolved, then if possible host a new site with whatever name meant for only solving people's queries and same should be tagged here as one of the forums. People on that new site will have to login on that to see their thread and they would not be able to shift to TE till some benchmark is reached in terms of post or aid given to other members or Likes received or something like that. Once that is done, they will become memebers of TE.

For the people who want to just visit to resolve a issue, they will not have to remember a "DIFFICULT NAME" and yet their issue will be resolved on the new site.

Yes, this is obviously restricted to Cost involved and resources available. But if possible, the point should be be given due consideration

Mods, Honestly Please consider this suggestion. Obviously this can be discussed at length in due course of time but don't change the name.
 
My wife too has a fair idea of what Tech Enclave is and she too uses it sometimes when i have left the window open in my home laptop. Please do not change the name.

You forgot the "sensational topics" and "my diary" threads - it should be renamed as InstantDrama - "Non-tech stuff matters here" ( though I contribute a lot there myself :ashamed: )
 
I would like to stick with techenclave. It's quite a creative name TBH and by now is a brand name. What I would suggest is to purchase a couple of easy to promote and remember domains and point them to TE. That would serve both the purpose.

Sample of what I mean:

Www.instantgeek.com redirecting to TechEnclave - Indian Technology Forum ?
geekchat.com redirecting to TechEnclave - Indian Technology Forum ?

Is this possible? Another example: try www.microsotf.com - it will redirect to www.microsoft.com.

Another example: www.googel.com
 
Okay.. Please stick to TE. Its how we've known this forum.. iG would reming people more of iGyaan.. Nope, TE it is! Please!
