Hi guys,

Please discuss the Intel NUC ( BOXNUC7CJYSAMN ) in this thread.

If you have one let us know what are you using it for.

-
I am currently using it as Headless Ubuntu 22. With Deluge as a dedicated downloaded machine and seeder to manage ratio. I chose this for lower power consumption, 4-6 watts with my use case.

Some questions I have received and its Answers:

- This uses laptop RAM.
- Comes with 1 SATA SSD slot : empty out of box.
- More powerful than RPi

Dose it have an m2 nvme slot ? Does the processor run at near full percentage when using windows ? Does it come pre-installed with Ram and SSD ? If yes then what capacity .

-- No NVME

-- Yes, mostly but workable and slow. The very first thing is to do full Windows update if you want to use Windows. I won't recommend Windows for this.

-- Yes, 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC card

8GB x 2 can be used in this but only buy 2400MHz or 2666 MHz only, higher ones like 3200MHz will not be compatible.
did any one tried this? I can have the box with 4+8gb RAM and Windows 11 will work with 12gb RAM and get the basics tasks done.

Also, online it has lot of threads for Linux not working.

In the case of this particular nuc , the bottle neck is the processor not the Ram . So anything beyond 8gb of Ram may not be of much use even if supported by the motherboard and chipset .

Will this SSD work with this NUC:

Western Digital WD Green SATA 240GB

I have one spare sitting in a box so it will be good if I can use it here.

Also, can someone please provide me with a 4GB RAM stick link (from Flipkart or Amazon preferably) that I can buy to make the total RAM to 8GB?
yes
It has SATA SSD slot
I have a spare 860 EVO 256 GB ....
16GB DDR4 SODIMM is 2550 without offers - https://www.amazon.in/Crucial-Basics-2666Mhz-Laptops-Notebooks/dp/B08BBVS7WP/
Need to stop coming to TE for next 2/3 days The itch to buy this is killing me , when have a i3 6Gen NUC in storage :(:(

I don't think I want to buy a 16GB stick for this. An additional 4GB stick making the RAM 8GB in total should be enough:

This Crucial Basics 4GB DDR4 1.2v 2666Mhz CL19 SODIMM RAM should be good right?
This is what the official product page for this NUC at Intel states for RAM specs:

Ok so read something interesting in a couple of User Reviews for this NUC over at Amazon India:

"Crucial RAM 8GB DDR4 2666 MHz CL19 Laptop Memory CT8G4SFRA266 will not work with it.
Buy 2400 Mhz ram or 3200Mhz rRAM
".

And this:

"Have installed Kingston 4gb ram (2400 MHz, C17,1.2 Volt & 260Pin DDR4) with 120 GB Crucial SSD with windows 10 64bit, I have tried 32 bit of windows 10 which is unsupported error shown " bootable device has not been detected". Only 64 bit of windows 10 /ubantu OS are supportable".

Might be helpful so posting here.

Has anyone used these?

Dolgix Gold 4GB DDR4 RAM | 2400MHz RAM| Laptop/Notebook RAM| CL- 17 |Laptop Memory| SO-DIMM | PC4-19200|1Rx8 Single Ram | 5-Years Warranty- (Made in India) https://amzn.eu/d/aM8Uq3n

I did come across this in my search for RAMs for this NUC... in fact this was the first one that pops up in the Amazon search results. Haven't heard of this brand in the past but the reviews on Amazon are +ve.

It's now a contest between this and the Hynix RAM I posted a link to above in my last post.
