^^ I am sorry and you are right. I cannot question your judgment at this time. You are not wrong to come to TE for help. Also you are right as it is not satisfying to sit with a defective phone considering you paid 23.5k.

Also i wonder y you did not use guptaji's gevey to test the phone and buy the gevey from him..

you mentioned that 1st time the problem occured after installing the gevey..

i guess better catch hold of the dealer that installed gevey for you

Dinesh,

Over the last two days you have gone from your stance of asking for a software restore to a full blown refund without anything much having changed. Additionally there has been all sorts of unnecessary mud-slinging and misunderstandings.

Please be reasonable in your expectations.

It could have easily been a fault at your end, or your cousin's end, a bump or a phone drop and even moisture and dirt! But I am not accusing you for it

From what you are suggesting, you are making clear accusations that i sold you a faulty phone.

I still think that you should get the phone restored/upgraded to ensure that it's not a software issue as a first step.

I installed the buyer's SIM on my Gevey and demonstrated it. He made and received calls without any issues.

^^^exactly so the new gevey might be the cause of the problem..thts what i am saying

he should have kepy ur gevey with him....he has mentioned the below so i think its the faulty gevey that has cased the issue

after Guptaji left, my brother asked the reseller to install Gevey sim into the phone, but 2 of them failed. As a last resort, he then came to my house in evening requesting me to help him with the Gevey Sim that will work. we went at a Mobile reseller whom i know and asked him to install a GEVEY sim that will actually work. We bought Gevey SIM supreme for the price of 950 rupees and the shopkeeper who is quite know at vashi area, Navi Mumbai (Impression Shop Sec-17) started to install the same.

the Gevey requires you to dial 112 and then cut and then go at settings (which you can only do via pressing the back/menu button so as to get out of the calling interface and reach at settings page). the menu button just stops responding and when it does we are too late... this happens a few times, until it works for one time and we are set to use iphone (all these time we though this might be some thing that actually does happen when someone is trying to install GEVEY on his locked Iphone4.

Check the first post..

I have given 3 solution there.

One of it what you are saying..

The seller dint sell gevey.. Dunno the reason

its not the qustion of seller sold the gevey or no

the gevey you bought seperately probably spoilt the phone. If thts the case you cannot blame the seller.

thts my point of view...i would have insisted the seller to sell the phone with gevey cause what works is best

so you may try the gevey from the selelr now but if the fake gevey has spoilt ur hardware then that might not solve ur issue.

So you want to say now that the Gevey that we applied because seller wasn't ready to sell his, had made the phone go bad ?

I mean, you mean to say that the Gevey sim is the culprit here? And the onus lies on me as I installed it ?, wherein it was because of buyers persistence to keep his Gevey with himself and leaving me no option but to buy one....

so the gevey performs all its functions well, gives proper network but somehow had cracked up the home button ?

Well thank you for your advice :)

I really appreciate such well thought out suggestions.

Btw please go through the whole thread again incase you've a few more advices or suggestions to offer..

Btw will any of the TE mods at least now try to help here?

Please help. Not asking for any action, but at least help in resolving the issue as the conflict happend over a deal settled at TE

^^ well you need to check out the link i have sent you

you said that you tried GEVEY and it did not work before you went and bought the 950bucks gevey ...read the link and google as fake geveys do spoil the hardware
after Guptaji left, my brother asked the reseller to install Gevey sim into the phone, but 2 of them failed.

suggest you to show it to some hardware guy

Repairing is the only solution, no matter on whose expense? its a matter of 1000-1500 as suggested by some other member, probably you should discuss the repairing charges among yourselves, neither you or guptaji can be blamed completely. He says it was working fine when he gave you, you say it started all on the same day, no way to check and no one can force guptaji for the refund. so better act wise and repair and learn a lesson...
I don't find any other solution
N.B. jahan 23.5 kharcha kiya hain vahan 1-1.5 aur kharcha karke thik karva lo, aur kar bhi kya sakte ho?

Seller was there when the Gevey failed or didn't work as expected.

Later seller said he has a flight to catch, hence took leave.

Where did we go wrong?

Please don't fill the thread for the sake of it. Theres a genuine issue, hence opened the thread here. Take care and warm regards.

You said something, I disagree.. Can we now move on ?

He gave 3 days testing warranty, now says no warranty.. Why should I bear the expense ?.just because I relied on him ?

Aur kar bhi kya sakte matlab? Aye din agar TE ka old member aapko ek faulty product beche woh bhi at cost of 23.5k... U sayin what more I can do?

I wonder where are all the old members apt in resolving such disputes

There are many counterfeit GEVEY sims in the market, all are very similar in appearance, but they have a lot of problems. They likely cause unnecessary damage to the iPhone. Your eyes cannot easily distinguish between the original and counterfeits.

Dinesh, my advice as I suggested few hours ago is to split the repair costs. Because both parties are given benefit of the doubt because we do not know what happened at the time of deal or before/after you bought the phone. Even splitting the cost is to be mutually agreed between you and Guptaji as TE cannot enforce it. So while it seems Guptaji would do that, go for it.

Next time, the testing warranty should be taken in written form so that the seller cannot say that he did not agree with the testing warranty if in case something happens to the product we buy.

Have yourself PM some reputed TE members here and ask for their feedback so that you can get answers privately.
