iPhone 4 Restore Help? 4.2.1

Well, I was on 4.2.1 and I did Reset ALL from the phone and now I am stuck on the apple logo, I read and now I know that I need to restore the phone now. So I downloaded the 4.2.1 Firmware from apple's server and I am trying to restore the iphone via itunes, but everytime I get a 3194 error, when it tries to validate the restore from apple.

So, I am stuck here, the phone was unlocked using gevey sim, and I really do not want to upgrade to higher OS. What should I do now? Any suggestions?

Have you saved the shsh of your phone though cydia or tiny umbrella or ifaith ? If yes then only you can restore with old firwares. I had one locked iphone 4 and did the same mistake of reseting and it got stuck in the loop. Then you have bring it to DFU mode and install. But shsh has to be saved.
 
I do not have the SHSH saved, but I am only trying to restore it to what was originally there, I was on 4.2.1 but how come its not letting me restore back to 4.2.1 with apple's official firmware. :(
 
Thanks but that didn't work :( , Still getting the same error. I guess only option left now is to download 4.3.3 firmware from apple and use that to restore? Will it be updating my baseband? Although I do no remember which one was it on :P , I am just worried if my gevey sim fails me with 4.3.3 it will be a headache...

Any opinions?
 
Lets keep the discussion here only :)

Without # so that it wont be redirected to Cydia's instead of Apple's. And fine even if you didn't reboot the comp.
 
I tried the host file, its still giving me the same error and I did with restart too, and I also read online that my gevey sim will not work with 4.3.3 ...so this is crazy now, all I did was a simple reset from phone .... and now all this! omg omg omg.....I really just need to get 4.2.1 back in there....

Any other way?
 
^^ editing host file will work only if you have saved shsh on the cydia server i guess .....
 
I haven't saved the shsh, what are my options now? I really just want 4.2.1, can't go to 4.3.3 or anything else, else my gevey won't work :(

Don't know if its updated to work with 4.3.3 cause it shows only 4.2.1 there (may be site not updated? )

Installing iTunes on other PC now, lets see how it goes...

Update: Tried it on friends comp and its not working there as well...I guess there is no other option then to upgrade to 4.3.3 :(
 
Do 1 thing..

Download sn0wbreeze and iReb..

Also download iOS4.3.3

Create a custom iOS4.3 fw via sn0wbreeze..

Then use iReb to put your phone into DFU mode..

Then do a shit+restore via iTunes.

Your baseband would remain the same.

It was jailbroken using greenpoision before.

thanks, I guess this is the only valid approach, but will apple sign it and let me install?
 
Since it was JB using Greenp0ision your SHSH are automatically saved in Cydia you dont have to externally save them.If you want i can walk you through the process .I am lazy to post the entire guide here :ashamed:.PM me you gtalk ID.

AFAIK baseband has nothing got to do with gevey ,the latest firmware 4.3.5 also works with gevey 9tp5mac /redmondpie confirmed this.

dude, you dont have to do "reset all setting" if you JB your device, i did this once and came with restart loop and battery gets hot...

read carefully

dude, check your host and edit and save.... because while restoring the phone, shsh blob of your phone is checked with apple server and wont allow to do it...

if you install cydia in 4.2.1 it will automatically saves shsh blobs

in other world create a new custom 4.2.1 and restore with clicking restore with HOLDING SHIFT key and select the fw...

Actually I did that only, I created custom firmware with snowbreeze and patched the hosts, and I am trying to do the shit restore, but still getting the same error.
