Time has released their annual list of the best of the best in games, apps, tweets, ads and gadgets. Love or hate Apple, it's hard to deny that the iPhone 5, even with its little hiccups, is a really solid device.

Time believes that it's the best of the year, beating out its archrival the Galaxy S III which doesn't even make the top 10. Interestingly, the Galaxy Note II, which is arguably just an oversized version of the S III, gets the 8th spot. Here is the rest of Time's Top 10 Gadgets:

 1. Apple iPhone 5
 2. Nintendo Wii U
 3. Sony Cyber-shot
 4. RX100 Raspberry Pi Model B
 5. Lytro camera
 6. Apple 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display
 7. Microsoft Surface with Windows RT
 8. Samsung Galaxy Note II
 9. Nest Learning thermostat
 10. Simple.TV

It's an interesting list, to say the least. I agree with the iPhone 5 being up there, but the Galaxy S III more than deserves to be on the list as its closest competitor. The Wii U has had a lackluster launch line-up of games so far, and its potential to run games that the PS3 and Xbox 360 successors will is still up in the air, so I don't think it should've been that high up, even if it is still early in its lifecycle.

Nintendo wii u still lacks behind compare to PlayStation and xbox in terms of gpu power....
lytro camera is innovative product but not that practical...
and we all know about hiw well surface doing good in market...

New times gadget of the year

#1 : iphone 5 <- iphone 4s on complan and diet
#2 : iphone 4s
#3 : iphone 4
#4 : Apple macbook pro with retina
#5 : Apple Macbook air with retina
#6 : Apple Tv
#7 : ipad mini
#8 : ipad 3
#9 : ipod
#1 0 : the idiot(times)'s brain who got sold to apple along with the american judges publishing the above devices in top 10

Bullshit, the Nokia Lumia 920 should've got it. So much innovation cannot be ignored.

The only Apple gadget that deserves a space in the top 10 list is the MBP.
I dont know if it should be No.1 but Iphone 5 is a beautiful device, true nothing truly innovating. However if you look at the overall product, its a magnificent device, fastest phone by far, one of the best looking phones ever etc.

And the Note 2 is much more then an oversized S3, the larger screen gives it so many additional options like multi window apps, S-Pen functions etc. No mention of Nexus 4/10 but Microsoft Surface gets a mention :P

Sigh, Just dipped an Iphone 4S in complan, and there comes Iphone 5, grabs No. 1 spot in Times Magazine....
Sorry Apple fanboys, I hate you & the formula to increase Device's height as well

Fair point but using that same logic, the iPhone 5 is also 'just' an elongated version of the iPhone 4S.

Agreed, but you are missing the comparo totally.I havent compared the s2 with the s3.I am comparing two of the products which are currently the flagship products in Samsung's portfolio.

There are bound to be similarities between two concurrent flagship devices of the same company. Isn't the iPad mini just a smaller version of the iPad 4?

[h=1]ANDROID SQUASHES IPHONE 5 IN LATEST CONSUMER REPORTS RATINGS: IPHONE RANKED LOWEST AMONG TOP PHONES[/h]

9:25 AMConsumer Reports has a history of being tough on Apple products. After dragging the iPhone 4 through the mud a few years ago, the non-profit buyer’s guide warmed up to the iPhone 4S when Apple (AAPL) resolved its famous “Antennagate” issues. When the iPhone 5was released, Consumer Reports gushed over the device and called it “the best iPhone yet.” Apparently the best iPhone yet still isn’t as good as top Android smartphones, however, as the magazine’s new ratings place the iPhone behind several Google (GOOG)-powered handsets.
As picked up by Business Insider, Apple’s iPhone 5 has been ranked the worst top smartphone at each of the three U.S. carriers that sell the device.

At both AT&T (T) and Sprint (S), the iPhone was ranked third behind the LG Optimus G and theSamsung Galaxy S III. Even worse for the Cupertino-based company, the iPhone 5 didn’t even crack the top-three at Verizon Wireless (VZ) as the Motorola RAZR MAXX HD, the Motorola RAZR HD and the Galaxy S III claimed top honors at the nation’s leading carrier.
Android’s market share lead continues to pull away from the iPhone as Samsung (005930) gains momentum and as low-cost handsets continue to flood emerging markets. Beyond market share, however, Apple’s often heralded lead where quality and user experience are concernedis taking a hit as well according to Consumer Reports.
Apple’s next-generation iPhone could launch as soon as this summer and the company has some ground to make up if it hopes to regain Consumer Reports’ smartphone crown.

I dont think apple will lose sleep in losing that award if i am honest.the time award has a fair amount of prestige related to it.If it was me, i do give it to the retina macbook pro .

Haha, tell that to all the users who're having screen ghosting problems on their rMBP. Just google it.
