Hello all,

I am quite fascinated by this gadget, though it does not allow few features like copy+paste, MMS forward etc, but its most awesome looking thing
when in hand.

I am opening this thread to share all information with other members about Shopping, Shipping, JailBreak of iphone. Please share your views.

Shopping & Shipping: It's of no use purchasing it from Vodaphone/Airtel in INdia as they costs bomb.

Which is the best method to purchase iPhone 3G (8GB/16GB) ? Is it good to ask someone coming from US to bring one ? There are so many people
posting in different forums/sites about shipping it to India, How reliable are they ? How much one should pay for a used 8GB/16 GB 3G model ?

Making it work in India: Other name of this is jailbreaking, People who already own it in India please do share which is a successful method to make it
work with Indian cell providers.

Free Apps: I am not sure if iPhone OS supports Jar/sis files. Please share good sites which provides good iPhone apps for FREE.

Anyone owns iMedia ifone which sells for 8000 Rs via Times of India offers ? any comments on that.

Please share tips & tricks, Good sites which gives info on iPhone, if you are planning to purchase / already purchased. if you cant post on site, you

Praks I got my Iphone through ebay .... Unlocking is simple provided te baseband version is 2.28..There are generally 2 versions in iphone

Firmware-2.X
Baseband-2.28

If you get a phone with baseband 2.30 U will not be able to unlock it:no: and have to use rebel SIM.I just contacted Mr. Yogesh Sharma who is the official distributor for Rebel SIM in India who quoted the following price for the SIM and programmer
No Cut Simcard = Rs1200/pc
Programmer : Rs 1000/pc. :S
Whereas if u are in baseband version 2.28 then should be a easy :clap: .Shipping was provided through seller through DTDC NBD and reached me in one piece :hap2:

Jar/sis are not supported since they are actually for Symbian/Java phones :no: ..But u have alot of apps out there which could be fun and also fills up the gap(Vid. Recording,Message forwarding,MMS etc).There are some very good free apps in Itunes itself and you could download it free of cost:ohyeah:
 
^^ Keep whining about it till you can, coz you dont have much time to continue doing that now :P
 
dont know if ur allowed to discuss jailbraking and unlocking on TE, but you dont require rebel sim etc anymore.. it can be done via software.
 
^^^But not after ur baseband gets updated or changed from the one which was in use when yell0wsn0w came in. Also discussing abt jailbreaking n unlocking is allowed as there's no legal issue with their discussion.

Can i get a i-phone 2g 8gb from singapore within 10-12k?

Well its 3G 8GB tried a lot in TE unfortunately at that time no fones whr in sale:huh: ...Got it for 23K used the ebay coupon:hap2: and got a discount of 22K pretty good piece not even the backside plastic cover was taken:ohyeah:..Tried to check on orkut the price he quoted was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy high 30K for 16GB and 25K for 8GB
 
man where can somebody get it for 22k , lots of people would buy , wish we cud do some jhol n arrange a go:P

Praks....I tried to get in touch with many people in US and Australia but when u do the conversion shipping etc and the hassle involved I thought of getting it that price.....But I m actually thinking of sellin this one and getting a 16GB from Airtel itself but would be waiting till October/November after seeing hw OS 3 is gonna perform :-D

What to check when taking used phone ?

How to check its not duplicate, how to check if its 8GB/16GB, 3G ?

Can someone pls tell me whats refurbished thing ?
