Budget 71-90K Is 3070 Overkill for 1080p Gaming ?

Guys, do you have any evidence back up your claims? Please look at graphs shared the 1080Ti can barely maintain 60 fps in some of the AAA titles from last year.
1080ti is TWO WHOLE GENERATIONS BEHIND not to mention a whole architecture change. A simple cursory look at benchmarks from any YouTuber on 1080p will make it clear enough.

On a serious note, if you are looking to play at 144Hz+, you ought to make sacrifice with qualities. That said, having an option to choose between them is a way better than not having any of them.

Considering the GPU prices now I'd be fine even getting a 3080fe for 1080p 144hz. Don't care if it's too much when even a 3060ti costs 60k , might as well get a 3080fe for the same price and upgrade monitor later on.

You need to get 3080fe though....
Stupid scalpers, miners and nvidia...

I'm holding off for a fair priced 3080 as well. I'm presently using a 2070 super with a 5600x on a X570 motherboard. The scalpers have blown the prices sky high and it is a uphill climb trying to get one on RPtech.

Yeah I tried both their 3070 and 3060ti sales but couldn't buy either.

I actually managed to buy 3060ti after trying for 3 hours straight, only to be refunded saying "unsuccessful order". I've mailed them 3 times asking why it was unsuccessful when I received the payment confirmation email but they didn't care to reply once!

Sorry about that man, hope you get one next time.

Summary : I was going to buy 2060 Super, but after 3000 series release thinking of buying 3070. My Config will be r5 3600, 3070, MSI b550 PRO VDH WIFI.

Question : I have a 1080p Monitor (Benq XL2411p). Is 3070 overkill for it ? Should i get a 2000 series RTX and save money ? Will be saving close to 25k ( -15k on 3070 and -8k on b550 Motherboard ).
Get an RTX 3060 or RTX 3060ti, but not at scalper prices. Check for these GPUs at decent prices.
Might be the prices will come down in the next few months, wait for it with hope with your fingers crossed.
