Is Apple iPod Touch worth a buy ?

I would like to know is the Apple iPod Touch worth a Buy ??

I mean if i am looking to buy a PMP, should i be considering this one ??
Things that put me off are first definitely the price and no radio
What is it in this player that i should buy it ?
Can the iphone be termed as a touch with additional call functionality or say vice versa, ipod touch is a iphone without phone :S

I have heard that there are great apps available which make it worth but confusion remains :S

Yeah absolutely. The gaming experience is brilliant as well, with graphics and gameplay as immersive and enjoyable as a PSP.
 
First of all, what are the things that you're looking for? If you're being put off by the price and the lack of a radio, I'd suggest you to take a look at the Cowon S9 or the Samsung P3, both are excellent alternatives and have better SQ.

However, if looks/aesthetics and overall experience is of much more importance to you then go for the iPod since the other two don't come anywhere close to the iPod's touch interface. Also with Apple you'll get stuck with proprietary software (read iTunes) so if you want drag and drop look elsewhere.

I opted for the S9 because the factors important to me were the sound quality, price, drag and drop functionality and the screen quality more than anything else. Also it can play most video formats on the fly without any conversion.

But i suppose the ipod can double up a gaming console for a casual gamer and the touch screen games would be great i think (not sure never played so). Also i have heard that there are lots of apps available for the ipod touch / iphone and there is a latest firmware upgrade too
 
Cowon/ Creative/ Sansa - Look for storage, battery life, can u share the files, etc etc
 
^^ I'm fully satisfied owner of iPod Touch 2G.. as it can be jailbroken now... The experience is doubled ;)

Trust me, it's most funniest iPod ever ;) (apple says)
 
the ipod touch 2nd gen should be approaching the end of its product life cycle soon. honestly, i was surprised when they didn't announce any price cuts at wwdc. hopefully, we'll see some updates in september.

As I said earlier, it depends entirely on what your usage would be like. Most folks don't look beyond Apple but I just thought I would share the alternatives with you.

why does an ipod touch need to be jailbroken ?
i thought it was only for iphone :S

If what you are saying is correct that what benefits you get if you jailbreak the ipod touch ??

Some non app store apps and pirated paid apps.
 
Without Jailbroken, you cant install (pirated) paid apps. Some of the apps are free but most of the good apps are paid only. These can only be installed free of cost after jailbroken.

It's the same as with any pirated stuff? You don't need to pay for them? :huh:

Most games and apps are paid apps from the itunes app store.

Hmm, it's simple, iPhone and iPod Touch has some unbelievable and great softwares but you've to pay for them.. also some unofficial but nice applications are available for some repos..

If you want to install them, you need to jailbreak your iPod Touch.. Jailbreaking will open the doors of freedom and it will exploit your iPod capabilities :yeah:
 
dude go for the ipod touch decent music , video quality lots of cool aplication n games to play arnd wid amazing interface touchscreen u wnt regret buying it ..........

nthng is perfect so its ur call

i have one n i m fully satisfied wid it

try to get it frm US u will end up savin a couple of grands ..........
 
If you are turned off by not having radio and want cheaper options why not try something radical as i tried.
I got a 4.3 inch(480x272) pmp player plays flac, mp3, ape music format and divx, flv, rm video format. Mine has 16 gigs of onboard storage with FM, FM record, mic, FM transmitter all for < 6k
Initially in my office they thought as a crap player. Screen quality is just superb 10 hours video, 15 hrs tv out (yet to try) 24 hrs audio. Now 5 people has got the player. Some has powerful 1.6 ghz proccy on board which can output hd resolutions in component out

i would like to buy one considering the VFM it provides :)

Please let us know what player are you talking about. Is it some kind of chinese player ??

I mean here in Shanghai we gets lots of MP4/MP5 (dont know what that means) and they claim to support HD upto 720p. I dont believe them but for the VFM it is good
