Is Infy a good place only for freshers?

3.25l is too little for now. I guess freshers getting screwed over in the latest pay commission also helped the IT companies a bit.

Btw, I think that HR guy with way too much attitude also came to my college 4 years back too.

^^ Actually Infy HR in general seem to show way too much attitude. Happened at my campus as well back when I was still in college. Their selection process comprised of only a written test and they haughtily announced that anyone who gets 80/100 in the test gets in. I guess they thought that getting 80 Marks in their test was difficult. I did not attend the test myself as I was already selected by my present company, but I was told that the test was not any thing great.

About 120 students took the test and all them must have easily passed the 80 marks considering all the B.Tech students were decent rank holders in IIT JEE and AIEEE and the M.Tech's had GATE All India Ranks below 1000. I was told they had to reconsider the cut off and make it a pretty darn high in order to end up with the 60 odd guys they selected in the end.

For all those who hate the certification and ridiculous passing criteria (70% WTF :@) in 0utf0sys here is a hitler's reaction on certification video.

I am sure all Outf0sys ppl will relate to it.

PS: I dont know how to embed youtube videos :ashamed:

That is so darn funny. I hired a couple of guys from Infy last year. They seemed pretty sad (obviously Infosys was their first job). I really had to probe to understand why they wanted to change from a reputed brand like Infosys. Most of them mentioned, that the quality of work is low, long training period, 'bench' is quite rampant, low career progression. Work is manual. Of course relocation to North India was a factor. Also one guy mentioned that the Program Manager controls a lot of things. Quality of projects, career progression, ratings. Is this true.

That video is hilarious. Thanks.

yup. the manager is infallible :). Outflowsys trusts its people. and Increasingly, a lot of the wrong ones ;)

"Watch this space for more" :P Nice touch...

By the way, Inferences from the video :

1. The guy is a Tamilian - References to "Aapu" and "Asal"

2. Bedford, Irving and Fortworth ? The guy probably is onsite, in the Dallas, TX area - And he's still complaining?

Its not only Infosys but also other companies who have started these exams a year back with pass as 70%, so i guess the scenario is the same everywhere ;)

^^ I am not sure about other companies starting these types of exams but in 0utf0sys these exams ahve very high passing threshold plus it is linked to appraisal. In short employees are royally screwed up.

If one had the ability to get 70% everytime he/she would not land up in a screwed up organization, had got better job in a MNC or likes. It is the ridiculous passing criteria that really pisses one off.

^^ Two exams each year (domain and technical one each) and both have 70% passing criteria. People gives exams based on availability of question paper (which is rare) not on skill set. In short certifications is just plain BS.

and some people like poor old hitler are forced to write entirely different certifications than what they are working on. You will be trained in dosa making, and then asked to make pizzas. The organization wants you to be flexible. But then after three years of making pizzas, they'll say that you have to pass a dosa making exam to become a master pizza chef- that's weird, isnt it? :P

When You ask for a pizza making exam, sorry , not possible. It's fixed. Its just a measure of 'competence'. Doesnt matter if you are writing an exam on modern physics, you should do just as well. You're supposed to be flexible, the org is not.

Okay. that might be an exaggeration. there is change to some extent. but its glacial. By the time they come up with the pizza making exam, hitler would have lost his invasion of europe :P

Interesting. They must have a department just dedicated to imparting exams, grading, release of scores.
