Is VPN going to be banned in India

Actually on certain ISPs like Jio Gigafiber they block Tor and Openvpn-based VPN sites with DPI so it can't even be bypassed.
If they are implementing DPI you can try using Shadowsocks. Shadowsocks was designed to bypass Chinese firewalls which use DPI and spent like 1.6 billion USD back in 2013.

I believe anything can be bypassed. If you connect a system to a network it can be bypassed period. Only way to block is a physical disconnection. Blocking VPNs by blocking access to VPN sites and IP will work only for those sites. The protocols like wireguard, openvpn, shadowsocks etc just makes it cat and mouse game.

Say I buy rent a VPS and setup tailscale exit node. Thats my private VPN right there. Is JIO blocking tailscale ? Anyone using Jio FIber with VPNs here ?

That they are obligated to store the data and has to be shared when asked.

Which is fine as that's the law being implemented and why VPN servers of nord, pia moved out of India. But banning VPN usage is not possible in my opinion as a lot of services depend on it. For normal users there is always ways to bypass any restrictions and access what you want.

DPI based block, really? That's a step-up.

With other ISPs, the 'not so great firewall of India' is implemented with DNS blockers. If you hit refresh 100's of times, at some point your DNS query is going to get answered by some international DNS server, and then one can easily view cornhub.

I believe the point is the spirit of the ban and the consequent hassle for everyday internet access that users are accustomed to. The escalation of costs because of the ban. These are issues surrounding the ban. It is not whether the ban can be circumvented and with which means.

Experienced the Jio DPI first hand just after JioFiber was launched as the connection was immediately flagged on various websites and at one point ads specific to browsing were cropping up on sites using AdSense even without saving cookies. Didn't use it after the trial period.

I had switched to Hathway, a bit warily due to the part Reliance ownership, and they initially started injecting ads based on DPI but stopped soon after. Haven't had issues since but in addition to a VPN service, I have a VPS running Wireguard, SOCKS5 and Shadowsocks just in case I need it. If nothing else, the VPS IP address is clean and doesn't get flagged unlike most mainstream VPN providers.

Hey, what vps provider? I am also looking for cheap Singapore VPS to host wireguard.. the routing from my brandband to fortnite server is very bad.. oracle cloud free tier helped alot. But my vps were stopped suddenly and can't login to oracle cloud after that, it says wrong username password even after resetting password.
