Israel Hezbollah Pager Attack.

Because point of these articles is to persuade congress to allocate more budget. So let out some scare stories and a senior officer to plug them UNLESS something is done about it.

China hasn't been able to figure out how to make decent engines which is a testament to the challenge no matter their spying efforts

Chinese engines have to be overhauled around 2,000 hours of use compared to 8,000 hours for western engines.

Unless a credible demonstration is made they are not counted because that's the purpose of deterrence. You want the opponent to believe in tour awesome power. On paper doesn't do that.

And they know just how unreliable. The tank engines overheat. The destroyers gifted never leave the harbour. Day after Balakote the Paks responded with F16s and not J-17 which was designed to be a lower cost F16.

If you are referring to Tejas then that's by GE.

Look even Pentagon is taking big note of this.
How reliable they are is again a big question mark too?

Yet you cannot fool the world that easily also.
If it was just a paper technology ...don't think USA and Europe would be so bothered by Chinese growing defence Power.

As for Pakistan ..what you said is correct yes they are not happy with everything they getting from China.

But yet they are continuing ordering it.
What is their game plan?.

I don't think china is giving them for free either.

The idea is to transition away from Russian equipment.
And start relying on USA?
They even worse partner to have.

Ofcourse we don't have much choice but none of the above options are helping us.

Even USA GE is delaying the engine supply.
India was even considering putting a fine on them.
But maybe USA pressure got them to think otherwise.

How are they managing to leap so fast in defence technology too?

I am failing to understand.

It takes years of RnD to even built a decent engine for fighter jets.
China with sanctions already to stop their access to some major defence tech is doing so much better than us.

Yes their technology is not proven in battlefield but it cannot be just on papers too. They should have definitely achieved something ground breaking here.

Pakistan is ready to move to Chinese defence tech from years of relying on USA tech.

They must have tested also.

Why aren't we going for Russian fighter jet engines too? Like Chinese.
Good question.
Total money allocated to the Kaveri engine program as of 2021 was ₹2,105 crore ($276 million) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GTRE_GTX-35VS_Kaveri#Current_status
But we're spending 5,375 crore ($710 million) for 99 f404 engines - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Electric_F404#GE_F404-IN20

Pentagin has to convince congress.

eg. INDO PACOM commander wants $27 bn to upgrade defenses of American bases as well as joint training with US allies in the region. Its called PDI.

He's been asking now for over five years. Ever so often he will say scary things things to MSM to wake Congress up.
Yet you cannot fool the world that easily also.
Pros won't be fooled but lesser competent publications will get the message across. Will Congress bite?

Who says they're bothered?

The changes Americans made to the region have been minor to address the present imbalance.
But yet they are continuing ordering it.

Then Chinese expect beta testing and bug fixing like Israelis are doing for the American defense companies.

The Paks might get to develop skills.

Not exclusively but the GE deal dates back to the 90s but got delayed due to outdated sanctions. Meanwhile the Kaveri engine got developed but its difficult to master engines without external help. Western countries pooled resources back in the cold war era. They won't help us.
Ofcourse we don't have much choice but none of the above options are helping us.
Secondary concern. We have requirements and use what is available.

Question is why is it being delayed?

And can Trump break the logjam

The way I see we are purposely holding our defence technology since many decades. With slow progress ..delaying RnD funds, not approving projects in time .

Many political parties and middle men make crazy huge cuts on defence deals with foreign companies.

That will be gone if they are starting manufacturing high end defence equipment here.

Only saving grace is some decent missile technology we have achieved.

Saudi Arabia is seeking to buy 100 Kaan fighter jets from Turkiye as part of its Vision 2030 plan:
Saudi Arabia’s move comes in light of the US refusal to provide the Kingdom with the advanced F-35 aircraft and may demonstrate to Washington that Riyadh has other alternatives.
I don't believe this deal will happen. It seems to me just to send a message to the Americans at this point in time.

Don't forget Erdogan and his Ottoman ambitions is a rival to Saudis. Why would Saudis want to depend on Turks for maintaining?

If America keeps arm twisting its partners they cannot continue also.

Even if it means shaking hands with enemy.

Saudis wanted to support Brics currency too.

But just yesterday read Trump has forced them to think otherwise.

Correction. It's Biden-Harrris.

Will be different under Trump.

Right and Trump won't have to do much to change Saudi minds here.

Saudis are totally captive to US hardware

On top turkey new drone is making waves.

They were already winning with their Bhakityar TB2.. this seems another leap.

We are not even being able to compete with Turkey.

Buying 3 billion dollars drone from USA instead.
Dunno about the Akinci but I'm not impressed with the TB2. It's success has only been in uncontested airspace. Once the jammers and air-defences caught up with ground forces, TB2s started dropping like flies. according to oryx at least 25 have been confirmed lost (https://www.oryxspioenkop.com/2022/02/attack-on-europe-documenting-ukrainian.html).

The reason we're spending $3 billion on US drones is not because of the platform, it's the sensors within that make it so potent.
It's the same with the P-8 Poseidon: on paper it looks like just a modified 737 but it's the sensors within that make it so deadly (and expensive) at tracking enemy subs.
