Julia Roberts, who recently converted to the Hindu faith, is now trying to adopt a child from India, according to sources.

The 42-year-old, who already has three children with cameraman Danny Moder – twins Hazel and Finn, five, and Henry, three, suffered from complications during her previous pregnancies but is still keen to add to her brood.

“Julia has wanted more children for years. But her past pregnancies were fraught with complications and she was forced into an extended hospital stay right before she had her twins. After all she has been through, she realizes that adoption is perhaps the best way forward,†the Daily Express quoted a friend as saying.

Julia Roberts “She has a special affinity with India and has contacts exploring the possibilities,†the friend added.

She is also said to have contacted an adoption agency in Bali, where she spent time filming Eat Pray Love.

“Julia and Danny love the idea of their kids having another baby in the house. And it feels so right that the next member of the family should come from a different culture,†the pal said.

They should make a reality show were a bunch of kids from third world countries try to get themselves adopted by famous hollywood actors.

publicity bah!! ,what culture are they talking about , its a baby , it will adapt wherever he/she goes , its not like we are inborn with culture , we grow up with it ...

Absolutely agree with kippu.. its a child,it has no identity,its becomes what you teach to it.

To me this adopting child from different countries seems like an extension of the "adopting exotic rare animals from other parts of the world for showcase purposes".I am not saying that adopting children from other parts of the world is bad or something.I feel these celebrities do it to get brownie points amongst their peers,also it becomes a point of discussion when amongst friends and on Tv interviews and such.

The child is lucky I guess to get a caring family.I hope thats what the kid gets above anything else.

Let's for a moment forget that this is Julia Roberts and imagine its just any other foreigner that would like to have kids but are unable to.

Now what do you think ?

Whether they choose to adopt at home or from abroad is incidental ie does it matter at all. Its nothing more than a preference given the choice is there.
 
i am sure there are orphans in their own country , it is not incidental , when you have 3 kids and you want one more you dont go and pick one abroad and treat the kid like a showpiece .... " hey look i got an indian kid "

Yeah but i find this too simplistic a reason, its like hey i got a foreign this or that, it reeks of materialism. This is not a pet, its a bloody human being, one that will be family.

How long will this foreign fetish last you think ?

Let me throw another curveball at ya. Let's say she had a deep spritual experience here and would like to have some way to remind her of it or even possess it in some manner.
 
she can get herself some idol or a showpiece to remind herself of it

i am not trying to get into an arguement with you , this is my feeling that she is doing it for her vested interests just like bradpitt and madonna did , its your opinion that she has genuine reasons ,well thats that :D
 
Can't believe we are still having discussion over this...

Look at it this way, regardless what her reasons are... some poor kid will get a good childhood and family. It won't make everything right for all the people in India or world, but at least one kid will get it. So whatever, it's not like somebody is losing something over it, let her have her fame or solace or good feeling or whatever she seeks.

@blr_p you are giving way to much benefit of doubt to her.Just how when we visit places we pick up things related to those places like some postcards,some memorabilia, But in her case she is picking a actual living kid.Isnt she ? Because its a kid people will never see that angle.They will go all gaga over it and all the hoopla and praises for the mother/father for doing such a great deed.

One more iddy biddy thought ... Can indian parents adopt american kids ? Or is it only one way around ?

But thats just an object, this is more isn't it. Something that will be a part of her family and outlive her.

How does it benefit madonna or brad pitt and even julia roberts to do this ?

Yes, because having a kid is a huge responsibilty, you're a father already.

Adopting one is something more as its not your own blood and adopting someone from the other side of the globe is an even bigger challenge.

Why go through this major hassle ? There have to be very strong personal beliefs at play here isn't it.

Yes, i'm giving her the benefit of the doubt as there is no way for me to read her mind and she has not shown herself to be unfit for the job.

This would be the case anytime anywhere somebody adopts an orphan don't you think.

This is actually very common in the US, they have 2-3 kids and adopt another.

My cousins there wanted to do the same thing but they ended up with twins the last time around and finished their quota :D
 
Im clearly generalising but to me it seems that people from the west who embrace eastern religions are emotionally unstable and self-destructive. Britney spears shaved her head in a random way and over dosed on an unknown psychotropic drug after she converted to hinduism. I wonder what julia roberts is going to do. I don't think giving her a child is a good idea. But who knows really.

It makes them appear benevolent. They get invited by general musharraf to his house for tea and biscuits.
