Just received a warning mail from SONY!!!!!!

The mail that i got today morning from SONY, just shocked me!!!!!
It was a warning mail stating that I have been found using circumvented software on my PS3 and that i should immediatly stop using such software, lese I will be banned from accessing PSN (and i think maybe my console will be flagged and my warranty will also become void.

The reason why i got this email is cuz i had access PSN with CFW 3.55. :(

Yep. I think they are nailing down the CFW users who "dare" to run free on PSN. It was inevitable. Microsoft did it and now Sony follows suit. Why did you want to go online anyway?
 
Wow....way to go Sony :D...ahead of Apple also :)

They are so confident that they dont care even if they piss off their customers...thats what happens when everybody buys Sony just because of the brand ! They are good for nothing company just faking and extracting $$$ from customers :P

In some blog it was reported that sony had asked google to mention all the users who have posted the way to hack into ps3 and all those who have posted the tutorial will recieve warnings etc.

Yep, I read it too on torrent freak. They have asked google to reveal the name of people posting tutorials, videos on youtube. To take it to the next level, they have asked info on all the people who have posted comments on the tut videos and even sent notice to twitter to reveal names of the people who have tweeted/re-tweeted the info on the homebrew.

They think they can take on the whole world.

Are you serious? Everyone loves free stuff, I agree on that, but you can't point fingers if a company tries to stop people from spreading piracy. I'm sure you wouldn't like if someone stole a part of your pay every month. Which is exactly what is happening.

If someone is arrested for stealing, I'm sure your reaction wouldn't be the same :|
 
^^ But why did they remove linux from PS3 w/o taking consent from any of its customers. If they dont take permission why should users do to do anything to the PS 3 I have bought. You cant dictate on what I load on my PS3 Sony , thats what it should be like. If they want to dictate terms they should come up with something like PS3 contract system for 3 years-- Buy PS3 320GB at $0, mandatory buyout of 50$ PS3 games every month for 2 years :P and ya did u buy all the softwares that you are using on PC....say that download manager worth 20$, etc etc !

Sony is going too far on this and trying to scare the hell out of everyone just to make an image of a BIG brat to the world...so that all those game studios still come to them :P.. Sony have made enough money on PS3 ....they dont need to milk it any more...but they are different ! They want 60% growth rate on revenue every year and thats coming frm your pocket :P
 
And ya they will continue to do so when we have retards paying an insane high 1.5k~2.5k for a PS3 game ! Price it well Sony and you will never have piracy issues....they wont learn anything from Steam...rather they dont want to...they are arrogant just like few Sony fanboi's here :P

Also DMCA and all bull crap is not valid in India I guess :D

Btw did anyone know this before buying PS3

According to Sony, not only do you not own the PS3, but you also do not own any biological matter capable of storing memory once it has stored information that resembles the form, design, or knowledge of existence of the PS3.

I just jail broke my ps3. Dropped a brick on the case and it cracked open. Well I took a dump on it and taped it back shut. I feel pretty bad about what I did. I just filled my PS3 with shit that Sony did not authorise me to. I think I will surrender my ps3 to Sony and turn my self in. Do any of you know the address of Sir Howard Stringer CEO of Sony? I will have to spring for overnight shipping I want him to get it while it's still fresh.

Did you -EVER- use the OtherOS feature on your PS3? If you did, you'd have noticed that it was a pretty bad experience. The only problem I have with this statement is the pirates ducking behind the "but they removed OtherOS when it was an advertised feature". Face the fact, nobody used other OS (I'm saying nobody because 1 or 2% of your install base equates to nobody). They only used it as an excuse to "Jailbreak" the PS3, and EVERYONE knows that the only thing that happens once a console is hacked is piracy.

Oh and Sony still sells the PS3 at a loss. They make money on software licenses. It's perfectly fair to ban non-paying customers from their PSN service. Imagine playing SSF4 or MVC3 online against someone who hacked his console and has unlimited health.
 
Once you install a CFW its bound to void warranties. Be it phones or a ps3.

But sony too can do very little on this apart from warning. Coz neither the customers nor the fw hackers are gonna listen it.

Just avoid going online via ps3. :) & enjoy the cfw mods.

I agree with you in that Sony's games are very highly overpriced. But piracy is plain wrong man, and Sony is completely fair in doing all they can to prevent piracy. I don't think you can justify piracy like that. I think it's decent on Sony's part to warn its customers instead of outright banning them.
