Yes all is fine as long as they dont say that they own the PS3 that you have bought paying full price. Let them ban the boxes, void warranty...but they cant tell that we do with our own box, so please remove everything , all malicious code....blah blah ! What abt removing Linux which you sold it as a feature... didn't see any lawsuits against Sony on this...so why they are coming back now ? Isn't it greed on their part ?

But thing is why is Piracy there....because ppl cant afford these games ! They can prevent piracy by making the PS3 outdated and launching the PS4. The millions that they will spend on lawsuits can be better used to harden their systems/protections. Even Sony group employees down the chain who were using CFW gt this email...gt the sense ? Its like a rat make a hole in my box...so I will rather sue the rat which will never succeed rather than securing my box more !

Notice: Unauthorized circumvention devices for the PlayStation 3 system have been recently released by hackers. These devices permit the use of unauthorized or pirated software. Use of such devices or software violates the terms of the “System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System†and the “Terms of Services and User Agreement†for the PlayStation Network/Qriocity and its Community Code of Conduct provisions. Violation of the System Software Licence Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System invalidates the consumer guarantee for that system. In addition, copying or playing pirated software is a violation of International Copyright Laws. Consumers using circumvention devices or running unauthorized or pirated software will have access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently.
To avoid this, consumers must immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems.
What this means to you
Circumvention devices and game piracy damage our industry and can potentially injure the online experience for you, our loyal PlayStation customers, via hacks and cheats.
Many PlayStation.Blog readers have asked how we intend to deal with these incidents that they have been reading about in the gaming press, and this is our initial response.

Does this mean that once a users console is identified to be compromised they can do nothing online with it. Never had a PS3 so asking. Does all the online traffic routed to a PS3 go through Sony's DRM layer where they can trap such devices. So no online game patches, or firmware patching too..? A user is entirely entitled to do anything he wants to his PS3 as long as he keeps it to himself! Sony cant brick consoles just because the user has tampered his ps3..And if they start on that! There will be war!

BTW i think the ban can be circumvented using the method to access PSN using certificates....
What this actually does is :
You connect ur PS3 to PC and generate a cert on the PC to certifiy that ur on OFW 3.56. The PC then connects to the PSN and reports that its a PS3 and is using OFW 3.56. All the PSN data requests generated on teh PS3 come to the PC, get the cert stamp and then go to PSN.

So i think SONY has lost the war even b4 then began

Emails are now being issued to those banned from the PSN Network:

^^ But why did they remove linux from PS3 w/o taking consent from any of its customers. If they dont take permission why should users do to do anything to the PS 3 I have bought. You cant dictate on what I load on my PS3 Sony , thats what it should be like. If they want to dictate terms they should come up with something like PS3 contract system for 3 years-- Buy PS3 320GB at $0, mandatory buyout of 50$ PS3 games every month for 2 years and ya did u buy all the softwares that you are using on PC....say that download manager worth 20$, etc etc !

Sony is going too far on this and trying to scare the hell out of everyone just to make an image of a BIG brat to the world...so that all those game studios still come to them .. Sony have made enough money on PS3 ....they dont need to milk it any more...but they are different ! They want 60% growth rate on revenue every year and thats coming frm your pocket

Firstly, I would like to clear that I'm no PS3 fanboy. Don't own one and don't think I would be able to even be able to spend 2-3k every month or so on a new game.

With that point out of the way, here are a few points why I think that your logic is flawed -

1. Removal of linux is a company policy and decision. You, or anyone else for that matter, doesn't have any say in that. That was never the main idea behind the marketing of PS3. It was a gaming console and a media center and it still is. You or a 100 other people not liking that doesn't make them liable for lawsuits or even admonishment. Don't buy if you don't like it. It's not as if it is compulsory to buy a PS3, you know. I have not.

2. The fact that Sony is trying everything to be a "Big brat" should not be surprising to anyone. They are a business and will be. Which business doesn't try to have a monopoly? You want to be a market leader, you have to be that way.

3. I did not buy most of the softwares I'm using. I can say that honestly. But if I get a warning from a company tomorrow, I wouldn't be outraged. I know I'm doing something wrong. What's the point of getting so hyper?! It's as if I steal money from someone and create a huge hue and cry when I'm caught.. seriously?!

4. I can't understand why you are comparing it to Steam. All the new releases on Steam also cost a cool $40-$60. I'm talking about the big studio releases, COD, MOH2 etc.

I was unable to convince my parents to spend money on games and sotfware till I was in college. But, now I try to make an effort to spend money for licensed software whenever I can. Anyone who can, should support the developers. They work damn hard for this.

PS: You don't have the money or are opposed to the company, don't buy it man. What's with all the hate?

Who gave u the info that no new games for ps3 will come out if ps4 is released today ? ps2 is still receiving games. Not too many because it already has a humongous array of games already.

You do realise that after upgrading to 3.56 you can't go back to 3.55 even the real hackers and not teh kiddies are saying this too. Also with 3.56 Sony fixed the problem with their private keys so hackers can use that exploit to sign their CFW on 3.56. Not only that but the hackers cant disable their PS3's from phoning home if their hooked up to the internet. This is embedded on the hardware they can't get around it unless the don't connect to the internet. Their choice is simple stay off line and buy another PS3 for PSN or upgrade to 3.56.

All is fine but telling or restricting the use of PS3 when I have bought it paying full price is invalid and zero and rubbish, kiddish , lame and is telling they r too confident. This happens just before a catastrophe ! Google the bigger evil knows how to handle things better. Sony on the other hand is like pushing the stick to hard...I hope people/hackers dont make it an open war so big that the floodgates will open leading to total compromise with the PSN. I am sure as usual they will stop at Hotz just to create a fear and this will die down.
