By this you mean to say, only that kills people has to be banned and Astrology is not harmful ??? Astrology is based on Non-sense and yet they can control every aspect of people's life from eating,sleeping and even when to F##K your women. Astrology ruins a person's life slowly & survives on Fear and Fatalism nothing else.

There's a clear rule in Astrology not to marry in the same "GOTHRAM" , it's considered a sin to marry the girl or boy of the same Gothram as yours, I always thought its absurd, until the medical school taught the perils of consanguinous marriage (marriage in first - second degree relatives) , which is associated with maximum incidence of genetically transmitted disease in the children born out of consanguinous marriage.
Avoiding the same Gothram is the astrology way of avoiding consanguinous marriage and avoiding inherited diseases; written in a era much before genetics was born.

Medicine is moving towards genetic evaluation for incidence of a disease to how a person responds to certain drugs. How same environmental influences bring about different attitudes and variations in the same set of individuals with different genetic make up. We could finally end up telling ' everything is predetermined' on the genetic basis of the individual at the birth itself.
Astrological principles were designed much before current scientific achievements were made, they had only fear of God and fear of unknown to make people follow certain principles of life to ensure a wellbeing of the individual. I don't see any wrong with that. Just don't discard an ancient science as illogical and irrelevant even before evaluating its merits in a unbiased manner. And political parties should be the last to decide on such matters.

My idea of super natural powers also revolves around the same thinking, probably we don't have enough technology to demonstrate the existence of a super natural power. Why can't you understand the fact that only a miniscule of percentage of electromagnetic spectrum is visible to our eyes, only miniscule of percent of frequencies we're able to hear, what if God communicates in some other frequency, some other spectrum which the current technology is unable to document & you need certain amount of spiritual elevation to experience it ?

Now coming to the OT, had we been debating validation of Astrology, before the mendelian theory of inheritance or when the perils of consanguinous marriage were not known, we could have banned avoiding same Gothram as nonsense.
BTW I'm a atheist for all practical purposes, but I'm open to the experience of a supernatural power if it is there somewhere.

I never justified their actions. But again, you are proposing to BAN on an industry because some of the products are fake. Going by your logic, we have to shutdown everything and go back to stone age. Aerated drinks and Tobacco products are all harmful yet they exist because of us.

Show me where it says so in your vedas ???? AFAIK gotram is a form of discrimination attempted by Brahmins and although it forbids marriage within same Gothram, it has never mentioned that it was to avoid diseases. They might have considered as taboo and you people try to fit that into modern parlance without any solid evidence.

They are not same. Astrology is not completely banned, only the broadcasting on TV. The fact is, anything harmful that is inline with one specific religion/Caste will never be banned in this country.
Now compare that to Beef ban..you can't posses,sell,cook or eat as if it is cocaine...It is the direct result of Injecting one's religion/caste into politics and eventually onto everyone's life. Now who's hypocrite here ?

The state shall allow people to follow a particular religion/belief till it is not encroaching upon the articles 15th and article 25th of the Constitution , that is the right to freedom of religion. So, if the Constitution allows a particular citizen to follow his beliefs peacefully, I don't know why the so called contextual aethists are against it. You think it is crap, don't go to an astrologer.why do you want to impose your views on others?
