Kindly help with step by step guide to install a few softwares on raspberry pi

I use flexget for p**n. :p

It parses the torrent site RSS feeds and picks up torrents based on a config.yml file. The captured torrent links are then added to qbittorrent which I use as my torrent client on my Raspberry. The only reason for using qbittorrent over deluge is that it allows me to add custom trackers.

Installation of flexget is pretty simple (sudo pip3 install flexget) but the config.yml is a pain.

Then its upto cron to run the job at say 10 min intervals.

If you want I can share my scripts with you.

Thanks for that info. Actually I recently became member of IPT and got a seedbox for a month so after doing that I was made aware of stuff like autodl-irssi as to get a good ratio on IPT, I needed to download torrents (freeleech) as soon as they are posted and for that I setup autodl-irssi but once I have built ratio, I guess I will no longer use seedbox and then keep leeching and zapping and once my ratio is in danger again, I will again get a month of seedbox.

I am actually contemplating getting RPi but I am still confused whether I want to or not and I also have a spare windows laptop with good config but no screen which I think I can use as well for getting something running 24x7 at home if I want to.

Hmm.. You are still using IPT. I have not used that for a long time.

Since its a private tracker you will need jackett in dietpi. But IPT doesn't allow autologin so you will need to login and feed the cookie to jackett.

Jackett basically caches the torrent feeds from the RSS entries and acts as a local RSS feed which can be feed into qbittorrent via flexget. Very helpful if you don't run your setup 24x7 as most torrent RSS feeds have a limit of 50-100 entries.

Freeleech only seems to be possible in Jackett.

I actually became member of IPT (again) just last week thanks to a member here. I am not having any other private tracker. Can you PM me list of other better private trackers out there but then I am not really into any niche stuff or so. So not even sure if I need any.

I am more of a public tracker person and only get things when I actually need and then delete once consumed. That is why instead of having an elaborate PLEX setup, I download torrents on my tablet and transfer via ES Explorer to my USB Pen drive attached to router and watch stuff on my iPad.

I am out of that private tracker game for a long time. Most of the stuff I watch on Netflix/Amazon Prime and I go to a site for shows that are not available in India.

I was on IPT long back but then due to non usage, they terminated account. I also have all subscriptions but I usually watch stuff using nPlayer on my iPad and at higher speed, a control which the official services don't provide. Netflix does but only in .25x increments but nPlayer has more granular control and I like the app overall (actually paid for it).

People using PiHole for entire home network, did you ever see any app or website or any Android TV app (many 3rd party live tv etc apps have ads) break or not function? If so, is there a way to put exceptions?

Yes you will need to review the logs and whitelist them. There is a known set of domains and even a set of curated whitelists you can easily add.
I did finally move away from network wide to device specific blocking to avoid complaints from other family members.

Well you have to give it some time once you add blocklists.
A known issue that i see but doesn't bother me is adverts at the top of the page when you search something in google.. The results at the too with pics and site are actually ads so when you click them they don't open.

Yesterday i installed a few youtube advert blocklists but whenever I add a blocklist I make sure to add required info in the description like what this is supposed to block and from which site or link I have got it. There were three blocklists

And as usual youtube got blocked sytmewide, I disabled each blocklist obeby one and realised only one of them isn't blocking youtube si deleted the other two and kept this third to see if it still blocks the youtube ads.. It does but not fully.

If you are using other blocklists than the green ones from fireborg, you should always add a description so that later on you can disable them if they behave erratically.

Yet to configure samba and plex and kodi

Guys
Bumping this up again as I was busy so couldn't do nothing .

So atm what I would like is
1. Download videos on my pc hdd and from there play them on my firestick via same wifi network . This is the ideal scenario for me as the stuff that I want are utterly newly released from some particular groups ans aren't available on torrents etc.
I ll download them on pc and I guess via kodi installed both on pc nd firrstick the videos can be streamed .
They lo will be 1080p x265 videos ,hope ty quality will not be compromised ..

Till now I have been transferring them to a USB drive and watching them by plugging the drive into the tv.

What would be the role of pi in this ?

@JMak
As you told that videos are not from torrents, it means either you get it through some website as direct download or some other way. How about using a desktop through VNC on Pi and download directly on Pi and on your firestick, use VLC like software to just discover the Pi server (you should have samba installed) and directly play.

I am not recommending the default jellyfin app on firestick as for x265 videos, there is very high chance transcoding may be needed which Pi won't be able to handle so direct play using VLC would work great.

With the way i suggested, I guess you don't need to download anything on PC.

Download the movies you want on the HDD attached to the pi e.g. /mnt/usb/movies
That drive will be shared via samba over your network. Keep in mind the pi has to be on a static IP or else you have to map it again after boot.

Then in dietpi-software set up samba as the file server.

Then you got to Kodi on your fire stick and go to settings>file manager>Add source>Add Network Location>Browse. This should show the dietpi server as follows-

The I guess you know how to do the rest as you are already doing it with an attached pen drive. We are just telling Kodi on fire stick to hit a network level shared drive instead of a attached one.

@raksrules transcoding is happening for your videos as your client must not support native x265 hardware acceleration.
So its telling the server (i.e. the pi) to transcode the stream to compatible x264 format.

In case of JMak fire stick supports x265 natively so transcoding shouldn't happen in his case unless its a super heavy x265 stream.

P.S. I also have this library share setup so that the Kodi clients are synced across the network. This means that you can watch a movie upto say 02:35 mins on your TV and then resume playback from 02:34 itself on your phone.

In the jellyfin client of fire stick too transcoding happens even for weirdly coded x264 or when audio needs transcoding. I have turned off transcoding completely for all users and then it works fine.
Need to check x265 with this setting on firestick though.

Also earlier I was having transcoding issues on my iPad (still is with th default app and safari) but now the developers have come up with a new version (still in alpha and only distributed through test flight on iOS devices) and it uses what vlc uses so no transcoding happens in that ios app. Eagerly waiting for that app to be officially available.

Guys having a strange issue with my diet pi installation.
O am using it with pihole only, whenever there is a power cut or I switch it off and on it just doesn't work.
I have to leave it for hours to get it to properly boot ans work.
Hence the internet via wifi is blocked , ans I hve to remove the pihole IP addresses from router settings for the net to work .

What can be the issue and how to fix it , don't wish to reinstall dietpi and all tbh

By any chance, do you have large storage devices connected to the Pi - something that could potentially do lengthy filesystem checks after a hard reset?

No. Nothing is connected to the pi
Just pihole is running on it
