koolmainak's iPad sale thread - item missing from consignment

Aaawh man. This is said. Faheem, did the package look as if it had been tampered. Or they totally re-did the packaging in between the robbery.

Guys, the seller seems fine here. He has accepted to go follow up at the office. Let us not jump to that.

Yup, very true....Its the same service whether it be lite, plus or whatever they call to charge extra. Delivery time and service is almost similar.

Something similar happened here, not too long ago, you know what to replace the stars with

http://www.******.com/forums/cheated-dtdc-blue-seller/42303.html

Seller was genuine, and chased the franchisee badly and got him to give back the phone or whatever it was
This same thing has been reported on our forum too -> http://www.techenclave.com/market-f...e-thread-item-missing-193555.html#post1845798

^ Already been through the thread mentioned. In that case the sender really took the pain to follow up with DTDC with so many visits and in the end try some smart tricks to get the phone back . Hope Mainak is able to do something similar and get it back .

Is there anything I need to do at my end ? Should I again visit my local DTDC office as well ?

^ I can't say for sure if it was tampered with because I have no idea how the seller had packed it exactly. Overall the packing wasn't very tought when I got it . It took me just a cut from the knife to open the pack and see the contents inside. The box was taped from the edges and inside the seller had double bubble wrapped the iPad . Only the bubble wrap exactly of the size of the iPad was left behind with taping all over it . The taping on the bubble-wrap looked tampered.

IF someone had took your ipad from the dtdc side,

either

they must have made a new package for the contents!

or they could have re-done the old package!

if it was 2nd option, there could be marks of the old tape on the sides or even stray tape on the cover.

i don't think the person would have got a lot of time to do the work, so he could not have done the repacking perfectly! Try to remember something out of the ordinary , which you might have seen!

Really wise of the OP to gauge the weight and take a decision to inspect and not accept the package.

Guess, we all will wait for the seller to follow up. Am sure both parties are zonked out of their mind. Sad. DTDC is on my no-go list now.

Also Faheem, if you can coordinate between the buyer+seller duo of the previous DTDC fraud, and have some conference phone calls amongst you four -- they can probably tell you the arm twisting tricks, and official mechanisms they employed. Will help you both escalate and reach a consensus quicker. Since they both are "experienced" in retrieval of stolen goods.

just to mention that the seller looked a lil dicey to me as he preferred to sell it to someone outside delhi when I was ready to buy it and pay in person at his mentioned price...
cool..
now go back in the past and post in his thread for others to know.

Although a stupid thought but can we all just call the seller dtdc center and tell them we know about ipad choori and tell it is all over Internet and freak them out. Would that help?

faheem you have a clear case here.

actual weight is just a fraction of the declared weight.

it means that the content existed at the moment of admission... use this fact as a point to present your case with them.

i have no faith left in dtdc.

^I also initially thought he could do that. But the weight has nothing to do when he ask's DTDC guys. As they will mention weight can be anything not exactly an electronic item. One doubt did Seller declare it as an Electronic item atleast ?

The item was declared as an electronic item but not particularly as an iPad. The seller went to the DTDC franchise today but the main head/manager guy had left and the person incharge at that time said that he can't be of any help to him because he only does paper work . He will be visiting the branch again tomorrow. Will update of I get any news .Ive already requested the guy to be a bit tough with the DTDC guy and convince him to get the iPad out / traced . Also while speaking to the seller today evening , i realized that whoever flicked the iPad had repacked it with his own tape. The seller said he had used all transparent tape whereas the package was covered with all brown tape.

As of now I am still completely in a state of shock and not very sure what needs to be done .

With a history of shipping more than 70 packages of which many were expensive gadgets ,Ive never had any such issues thanks to proper declaration and bullet-proof packaging . This was the last thing I had ever expected to happen with me . 15k is a huge huge sum :(.

I had a word with Faheem. It was very bad experience dealing with DTDC . I am going tomorrow morning at DTDC again. I will bang their desks and will be hard on them. I swear I wont use DTDC again.

^^ Hope everything works out for you and yes 15k is a huge sum.

Ask the Seller to keep pressure on the DTDC Franchise, if he knows a lawyer personally ask him to take the lawyer with him next time, the presence of a lawyer sometimes works wonders.

Be sure to write a detailed email to the DTDC head honchos including a link to this thread.

Neha here can suggest somethings on this regard. Some section number or anything when a law noob can say to that DTDC people to scare them and give in.
