My Lenovo laptop giving multibeeps (around 5 times) during boot up and shows "Windows 7" and "Memory check" messages. If I select memory check, it finishes without showing any problems and if I boot Windows 7 also no issues. it boots up normally. And in system properties, it shows the whole RAM.
Again if I boot up, same behavior ..

wondering how to check the RAM status or any other issues if any.

Anand

let me know BIOS make (ie, Insyde/Phoenix/Award etc). You can just update the BIOS(flash) with the latest or same file to check the same.Few lenovo laps had the same issue ,and our repair lab fixed the same with the above BIOS upgrade option.

Also let me know lap model/part details.

common beep codes fo lenovo (few models)

5 short beeps BIOS recovery successful

Beep codes for American Megatrends, Inc (AMI) BIOS

4, 5, 6, 7 Fatal errors related to the operation of critical motherboard components - such as the CPU

The following codes can vary depending on BIOS version.

5beeps Failure while reading file

Beep codes for Phoenix BIOS

1-2-1-1 Initialize Power Management

Beep codes for Award BIOS

long beep followed by 2 or 3 short beeps Unable to initialize video (to display the post code)
Other beep conditions Memory errors.

Disconnect nay peripheral attached, reseat the RAM but first as said above, try to update BIOS.

its around 25 beeps. and I tried to re-flash the BIOS. But got this error message

"Failed to retrieve system bios information.

BCPSYS block was not found

Error code -100

"

So could not do it. But system works fine.

Model Lenovo G460

most prolly it is recovering bios from backup bios..after trying to boot normally...did u check with their service guys regarding this issue ? i suspect ram problems as that is what generally does this...on my current comp if ram oc is unstable it does this...And if ram contacts are bad it also does this same thing..what i do is remove ram and clean the contacts with a rubber(normal rubber we use when we write with pencil) rub it's contacts until the gold fingers are shining and make sure u hold it by sides and not actually grip the pcb....insert and remove ram 3-4 times cleaning between each time..if only contact problem is there it will go away...And if ur not comfortable with handling of computer hardware don't do it....

Probably something wrong with the BIOS, has gone corrupt. Or as above mentioned failure of RAM. Get it checked at an authorized service center. Are you able to get into the blue BIOS screen.

Took it to Lenovo Authorized service. The person over there just cleaned the KB part now no beeps. Works fine. He said might be some dust and moisture made some keys sticky and while boot up this made the beep...

thanks everyone.
