i have few questions to ask -
1. Do laptop coolers really help to keep cool down the laptops ???
2. If yes how ???
3. If i want to buy a decent laptop cooler which one should i go for ??? cost ?
4. Any laptop cooler buyers ... share their experience plz....
need to buy one soon....

effective cooling depends on the airflow and where exactly exhaust out and in given ... laptop cooler won't do any wonder if it doesn't match with laptop

laptop coolers make sense only when you use cpu/gfx intensive apps (editing, gaming...).

my 17" laptop, its gfx card (8600m) keeps the system at 50deg. at idle :P .

i dont (read 'cant') use it much on lap, so i bought a USB fan, i position it to throw air at RAM (centre).

i searched at SP road, but couldnt find a cooler for 17" laptops :/

I have seen that generally laptop cooler have either two small fans equidistant from the center or a central big fan. What if my laptop is heating on the left side where i suppose the internal fan is there ?

@OP

Also if there is too much heating, i suggest you get you laptop serviced, as in, get the dust removed. My laptop was heating a lot and the fan making too violent noise, used to almost scare me. I got it serviced and found that there was dust accumulated on the fan side which was blocking air flow. Things got fine after that.

^ check out this cooler, I hope it will fulfill your need of side's temp control.

Zalman is not available in India IMO, but this product has got quite good reviews. google it more.

^^ Cooler master has 2 quite decent models available for 17" laptop. Check out this link.

1) Cooler Master - Ultimate provider of Computer Chassis | Cooler | Power Supply

One of my friends is using cooler master's infinite. And temp control is quite good.

But notice one thing also, that, after some time, like 6 months or so (approx), fan noise will be eventually increased. Well, this would only happen if you are running your laptop 24X30.

thanks for that 17" info.

that zalman cooler is shit. lol
it has air intake at the bottom. what if you keep you laptop on your lap in your bed or on bed? =no air flow=fail=worthless
logitech has the intake at the rear, bottom is sealed, nice design.
will try to get it soon.
