I took a look at that one one the net before you posted it... well look, I will be out shopping on the 20th, so I will look into the rates at Compuciti.
As for whether the 4600 fits your requirements well, it is slower (1.6 as compared to 1.7) than the toshiba, on the other hand it ha a mobile x700 and a really cool widescreen. Trust me, I have seen an Acer widescreen (my friend had one) and it is simply amazing.
The only problem I really have with the toshiba is that the screen is just 14". 15" is what you really need.

i think you need to ask for the trulife or ultrasharp display or some crap while getting your dell notebook

oh been a very hectic week butanyways i'm back :D thnx mate i will consider this model too lookspretty interesting monster laptop :) and hopefullylinux will work too. lets see which one i finally buy.

srry for bumping this post after a long gap but hey kk i got the Acer Travelmate 4602 for 58K/- inclusive of all from compucitti JM Road pune.

The specs are similar to this except i have 512 MB RAM, 1.73 Ghz CPU and useless Linux OS.

Man i visited House of laptops at tilak road and man i just hate it nowbad customer service. I went there to get a compaq the 2.0 Ghz one laptop that u sugested and the sales girl there says that wait for a week coz some new lappy are coming inand that compaq has discontinued the 2.0 Ghz laptop. I go there affter a week and damn shit they have some crappy models to display at thier showroom and they say these are the only one's available shit i was mad.
